New Adventures

Hello. My name is Matt. My wife and I are very excited about our new Flagstaff E-Pro 19FBS. We are completely new to the game, but ready and willing to learn. Heck, even pulling a trailer was a first for me (made it with no issues, except I didn't have the proper mirrors. Slow lane...all day). We spent that first weekend staying in it on the driveway. The walk-through wasn't very in depth, so littles things like turming on the tv and getting sound out of both interior speakers was...a learning experience. I do have one quick question. To run big items or multiple items, I already found it's best to have an outside power source. My batteries and solar panels are not enough to say, kick on the AC. So, I purchased a 3800w inverter generstor. Now, my trailer has a inverter switch. Should this be on or off while using the generstor? Thanks for listening and hope to hear back.

Welcome to the forum!

You did a smart thing by camping in the driveway to learn how things work.

You are correct, batteries and solar won't run the ac portion of your rig. The dc side runs things like lights and propane detector off the battery.... and some refrigerators. An inverter generator will fill your trailers needs if you're not connected to a 30amp power source in a campground.
One word of caution, running the air conditioner and microwave at the same time may not be advisable or possible.

As to your inverter, I don't know the answer. Hopefully someone will give a definite answer.

Snowbird? In Texas? (lol) I'm from Ohio and thank you for the warm welcome. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but the misses and I are gearing up for a dry run this weekend. Going to a small campground about 20 minutes from home, "just in case". No hook-ups at all, but that's why I purchased this particular trailer.
I never really found an answer to my question. Maybe if I asked it differently, like, if I'm hooked up to shore power, should I turn my trailers invertor off?
