New Cherokee Owners

Hi Folks
My wife and I are proud new 2nd owners of a 2018 Cherokee 39 RL that is due to be delivered May 16. Had our PDI walk through last week and there are a few things I'm wondering about but will post in an appropriate thread. Our background is that we were boaters for many years, the last several in a 34 foot cabin cruiser but we decided two years ago that land based activities now fit both our lifestyle and pocket book better. We spent a season in a 22 foot travel trailer to see if we liked it and to try out the park we are in about an hour north of Toronto, Ontario. We love it and so have committed to something that provides plenty of space on rainy days, and a possible summer base for retirement in a few years. Looking forward to participating in the forum.

Cheers!

Welcome

Welcome. We have a permanently-sited 2008 Cherokee 38P which gets used a lot when it's warm and a little when it's cold.

There aren't too many folks on this forum with destination trailers like ours.

Thanks Larry
So it would seem. There is very little info or feedback anywhere on these.
I suppose partly because not humping up and down the highway all the time not a lot arises. I likely will have questions if there's anything I can't figure out, but it's not our first RV and I'll wait until we take possession and see if there's anything to worry about.
Cheers!

Destination trailers are a very small section of the RV market.
They have more in common with park models and mobile homes, than Recreation Vehicles since they rarely move.

We are the third owners. We bought it in 2012. It's sited in a very desirable resort with a five-year waiting list to get in. (Resort is land-locked, can't expand.) Fortunately, the resort has no rules about age of trailers. Just have to keep it and the lot clean.

As near as I can tell, it was towed from the nearby dealer to this site in 2008 and hasn't moved since. It's easier and more profitable for owners to sell it on site, so the new buyers can jump ahead of the waiting list. As a result, selling/buying prices run around $10,000 above usual.

We bought ours on site and if we ever sell it, it will also be on site. Our GMC 2500HD is not enough to pull it.
