New First Time Owners From TX

My wife and I have enjoyed tent and shelter camping at various state parks within two hours or so of Fort Worth for the past few years. I am getting closer to retirement age, so we started looking at travel trailers with an eye towards more travel when I do retire.

We've occasionally browsed the local dealers over the years, but we got more focused after our last trip tent camping and all the setup and tear down in 95+ heat. It didn't hurt that the two fifth wheels setup near us at Fort Parker separately suggested we check out the same dealer when we chatted with them about their trailers.

When we started, we intended on purchasing used, but we made the "mistake" of looking at the new showroom as well, so now we are set to pickup a 2016 Vibe Extreme Lite 279RBS tomorrow morning. We are both excited to try it out, so we are planning on going to Ray Roberts this weekend.

I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago to research our purchase and I was overwhelmed with the quality of the comments and the number of topics. Being an engineer, I researched everything about the change for camping to a travel trailer, and this site was an absolute gold mine.

Welcome from Wisconsin and congrats on your 2016 Vibe Extreme Lite 279RBS. Make sure you go under the Library tab above and under the most popular files you'll find a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) checklist. Print it out to take with you. Have a great first weekend in you new camper!

Welcome from upstate NY! Hope you folks enjoy your new camper. I have a son in Copperas Cove Texas, and a sister near San Antonio. We plan on heading that way next year, maybe we'll see you on the road. God Bless

Good morning and welcome o the site from SW Idaho.

Record the PDI for future reference, information overload could cause you to forget a thing or two.

Test everything, even the furnace @110 degrees, one thing this will do is burn off some of the oil on the furnace metal, it may set off the smoke alarm.

Put a cup of water in the microwave to test it.

Light the oven and burners, make sure the water heater is full and heating water.

Have them show you where the water heater bypass valves are even if you do not need to winterize due to your location.

Welcome from another Texan. Enjoy. We have a nice break from the heat, so this will be a nice weekend to camp. Which side of Ray Roberts are you going to? North or South?

We are planning on the south side at Isle Du Bois. It's only about 45 minutes from our home, so it will give us a good chance to run through setting up and breaking camp while still having some time to enjoy the drop in temperatures that we've had the past week.
