New Forest River Owner

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I just closed a deal on a 2014 Forest River Rockwood Windjammer 3008W this morning. We bought a used 2011 CrossRoads Sunset Trail Reserve 30RE last fall with the intention of spending as much time as possible traveling our great country once both of us are retired. Well, in early August we spent 8 consecutive day camping at our local county fair and realized there were several areas we were not happy with. Bed size and lack of clothes storage, bathroom with limited room to function and no linen storage and lack of kitchen storage and counter space. We spent much time evaluating floor plans and decided the 3008W addressed all our concerns plus added some great new features. Fireplace and Lazy Boy recliners two examples. Hopefully we will pick-up the new unit on 9/13 and can makes plans for a week break in tour in early October.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! A good shake down trip would be to the FROGtoberfest Rally in the Amana Colonies, Iowa!

Welcome!! The wait is killer isn't it. I think you'll really enjoy your new rig.

Don't be shy about asking any questions that might pop up. FROGs are good people.

And congratulations on your new Windjammer. We have a 2012 Flagstaff V Lite with the same floor plan , and it really is the perfect floor plan for all your concerns. Our maiden voyage was a 9 week trip from central IL through the southwest, up the coast of California to Washington and back down through Utah and across the midwest. We couldn't have found a better floor plan for comfortable living away from home. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we have enjoyed ours.

Hey that's my trailer!!! Hope you love it as much as we do. We got our 2014 model last summer and drove it through 15 states on a big trip out to CO and UT. This year we've stayed closer to home...

A couple of things we've done:
  • Quasi-King-Size-Bed: we had a king-size memory foam mattress topper that we put over the queen-size bed, giving us a kind of a cross between a king-size and a queen-size mattress. On the head end of the mattress, the foam pad covers the two bed-side stands, but gives us the full width of a king. At the foot end, it hangs over the sides, giving us a wider-than-queen-size mattress. We like it.
  • Hanging shelves in the closet: we find the drawers under the closet to be a little hard to access, and we mostly take folded clothes on camping trips (shorts/t-shirt/jammies/etc.), so DH hung 2 closet organizer shelves in the left half of the closet. Works out great..

Have fun in your Windjammer!

Yes that is only less than 2 hours from us, but my wife cannot have time off until her co-worker returns from knee replacement surgery which will be Oct. 6 at the earliest.
