New guy here

Hi everyone!

Just purchased my first camper (2010 Rockwood Roo 19) and hope to pick it up this coming Saturday. I've never pulled any kind of trailer so this entire thing will be a big learning curve. I'm looking forward to camping as soon as possible.

Cheers!

i'm assuming you're using a Tacoma to tow with.

hopefully it has the factory tow package. if not, it'll be costly to duplicate it, which will be necessary to tow the Roo.

you'll need a WDH with sway control, like the Equal-i-zer or Reese Dual-Cam.
and you'll need a good brake controller, the Prodigy is the most loved one.

#1 Hybrid mod is getting Popup Gizmos or the generic 5x7 solar blanket versions, for the tent ends. check out Popup Gizmos' website for pics and explanation.

I've got the factory tow package installed. It came with the Tacoma when I bought last October. The RV dealer will be installing the brake controller, WDH and sway bars for me hopefully on Saturday.

I've heard of the Popup Gizmos but haven't looked into where/how to purchase them yet.

Congrats on the new 'Roo. You're gonna enjoy! If you've never pulled a trailer before, I suggest you find an empty parking lot somewhere and practice backing it up. You can pick a marked parking space and see if you can put the trailer dead on. Unless you're fortunate to always get a pull-through parking space in a campground, you'll need some backing-up skills.

Seems every time I ever screwed up backing a camper, everyone in the campground was either laughing at me, or telling me what I was doing wrong!:rollback:

Congratulations, also! Tip - take your time, don't rush, look at how the trailer is responding to you. Just guide it back.
