I camped in a tent for most of my life, but my first Rockwood was a 5th wheel, 8283ss. I had a Ram diesel with a Cummings engine and it hauled like a CHAMP! That 5th wheel was LIFE! It had everything I wanted and then some. Someone hit me in storage and it was never the same. A leak was stopped but the outside was less than desirable cosmetically. Finally, my (great) RV repair business told me it wouldn't be road worthy much longer, so I took it on one last trip then sold it to a young man who wanted to live in it and not move it. He got a great deal as I kept the interior in pristine condition. It has been three years since I last camped and I was itching to get back into it... so much so that I bought a tent. BIG NO!
Last month, I purchased a Rockwood Mini Lite, 2507s. I'm in LOVE! It has less outside storage than the 5th wheel, but what Rockwood has improved in 10 years in other ways is just incredible! Dare I say I have as much storage inside as I did in the 5th wheel. I didn't know I needed an outdoor kitchen either but I'm digging it. The stone and gray colors are beautiful and after replacing the Murphy bed, this rig is a dream come true.
The only problem I'm having is the freezer is frosting over quickly and there are icicles hanging. Anyone else having a problem like that? I'm not a fan of putting the controls INSIDE the freezer section (so you have to open the freezer to even SEE what's happening) so any help here would be great.
I have several trips lined up and can't wait to hit the road. Any and all tips on traveling the US is appreciated and welcomed. I'm so glad to be back in a Rockwood!
