I just purchased a 2010 F150, 5.4L with 3.55 rear end and WB 145". Tow rating at 9800lbs. Looking at a Rockwood 8315bss, wt 6450, 34' in length. Does anyone see any issues with this towing combination?

Your tow vehicle should be fine. Just make sure you purchase a geed weight distribution/anti-sway hitch.

The Reese Dual Cam or Equal-i-zer brand by Progressive are two quality hitches.

I was in Austin a few weeks ago. Stayed at McKinney Falls SP. Met a couple who had lived in NC earlier. They had tried retirement in FL but told me that Texas was a better choice. I've been researching the costs of living in Texas [maybe only part of the year, say December to April]. Is that enough to set up residence - drivers license, voting registration, tax domicile, etc??? I would be only temporary in other locations after the 5 months in Texas - perhaps MT, CO, WY, NC some too.

I tow a Rockwood 2604 empty it weighs less than 5000 loaded for camping it weighs 6200 (Flying J scales). My tow vehicle ia a 2008 Silverado 1500 4X4 5.3 engine 3.73 rear 144 wheel base. Loaded for camping it weighs 6100 and I use a Equalizer WD hitch. I run in 3 rd gear with Tow/Haul on. On flat roads at 65 I forget it is back there, but if I hit a long hill even here in central Texas I know it is there. If I am going up a long slight incline with a head wind my speed drops off and sometimes I have to shift to 2nd gear to maintain 50 . On flat roads my transmission temp is 175 to 190, in hills with a head wind it will hit 215. On our 18 day trip to Rapid City SD and our 7 day trip to Big Bend there were several time I wished I had a deisel. My next truck will be a deisel. As you can see I am running a little lighter truck than your Ford and a lot lighter trailer than you are looking at. I hope this helps and good luck.

Welcome.....I agree you should be fine if you don't overload and remember that nothing has to be done right now. That's what tomorrow is for. Take your time and stop for a rest now and then for you and your equipment. Most of all have fun and enjoy yourself. We have the same model trailer and tow it with an '07 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi 4WD. Struggles a little on long or steep hills but otherwise up to the job quite well.

After a few trips, you will wish you had a bigger truck or a smaller trailer. I'm pulling a loaded 5th wheel at about 8000 with a 2009 F150 fully equiped (Max Tow package) E-85 5.4 with 3.73 and 60's rear tires. It shifts a LOT. Never gets over 3000RPM and averages about 11.5 MPG. I'm quite happy with it but I'm marginal.

Thanks for all the feedback. Some other concerns are going from towing a 24' TT to a 34" TT n how much, if any, major changes will take place ie; manuevering in n out of gas stations, traffic, and general overall driving. just don't want to upgrade and then be sorry I did and have a fight driving this rig from place to place. The Rockwood 8315bss is the ideal floorplan for us...gf n 2 small dogs. I do have a dual-cam WDH.
