New in So Cal
I'm probably a little different from the usual newbie... I don't own an RV yet.
So why am I here? I've been been detail-planning an around-the-country RV trip for about 10 years and lurking here for about 3. The trip is scheduled for Summer 2018 and I've finally entered the phase where we'll be buying an RV within 5 months. We've already made our first offer, but unfortunately it was turned down. But I figured since we're finally shopping for one it's time to stop lurking and join the forum.
We'll be buying a used Georgetown 364TS. I narrowed the search down to that specific coach in February. I searched this forum looking for indications about how 364TS owners felt about their rigs. I was pleased to see they like them and haven't had a lot of problems. We'll own one by March at the latest and then I'll have to learn everything I can before June. I've done a lot of research and YouTube watching. At this point I know as much as someone can who has never owned, ridden in, or slept in one. I'm looking forward to learning so much more.

Welcome on board. Glad you've enjoyed the research, now it is time to enjoy this great country.
See you on the Road.

Welcome to the rv world. You can definitely find an answer to any question here in the forums. I have never road tripped but, there are a lot of experts here who have or are on the road right now. One thing I have learned over time -30 years of camping- tents, pop ups, TTs, is I'm still learning. I would definitely recommend a couple shakeout trips before you hit the long road to identify any immediate issues. I'm sure some of the more experienced long haul rver's will have some good advice for you. Again welcome - best group of people you will ever meet!

Thank you. Yes, once we have the RV I plan on doing a bunch of weekend trips to shake out the coach and learn not only how to drive it and live in it, but figure out the equipment we need and don’t need for the trip itself.

may I make a small comment? we lived in orange county when we bought our 5th wheel. we could not store it at our house. trying to find a rv storage lot where we could store it was probably harder than buying it. there is more open space out by Temecula but make sure you have a place to store it. then have fun!

I did find one place with an opening (evidently even here in Temecula it's tough) and the price made me drop my jaw. I found a friend with a larger property and I'm going to rent space from him.

We're buying our RV!
A lot has changed in the very short time I posted this initial intro thread. We decided to move forward as six of the lower-priced 364TSs disappeared off the RVTader.com and RVT.com (sold) in the space of just 4 days.
After hiring a mechanic to do an independent inspection we're moving forward with purchasing a rig in Albuquerque. I've taken Thursday and Friday off work next week and we'll go out a bring it back. Can't wait!! That was a lot faster than I expected.
