When your my age, I am happy to be called a Jr Member of anything! As you might guess I am retired—My wife and I just purchased a 2023 MiniLite Rockwood 2204S from an outfit in Ohio and camped our way back to Washington State.

The new Forest River 2023 models are well worth the wait after a long time researching and comparing—love the quality and redesigned 2204S.

I look forward to the experiences members have had on the Forest River forum, as we make a few changes to make this trailer our own.

We were looking for a lighter trailer that would match the towing/payload characteristics of our Canyon diesel pickup. Because of its smaller size and weight we wanted an open plan that made good use of the trademark Forest River front window and needed a slide dinette over the axles to help tongue weight.

With that said, this trailer is about as much as I would comfortably tow across country. The freshwater tank is toward the front which means it doesn’t take much fresh water and the tongue weight will be at its legal limit for my mid size truck—just have to not travel with water. The other thing that has me scratching my head (from the should of thought if that one department) is the 23 gallon fuel tank on my Canyon. I averaged 12 mpg which means after 200 miles I’m thinking about finding a truck stop in the next 30 miles or so. So, I might be in the market for a larger diesel pickup next year especially if we plan a lot of long haul travel. We’ll see.

That's a nice looking rig. Perfect for a couple. A bigger truck will make it easier to tow and handle, but I'm not certain it's going to improve your mileage much. You're still going to be pulling a big box behind your truck.

The junior title just means you're a newcomer. You can add your own custom title under User CP on the bar above.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi and Welcome to FRF from a former resident of Camano Island.
Sounds like you bought from RV Wholesalers. Many West Coast customers buy from them, to save thousands of dollars over inflated prices out West.

Nice looking unit! For some reason I’m drawn to the twin beds setup. I’m too old to get in & out of bunk beds easily.

We are still making upgrades to our 2204 twin bed model. We love this model over queen bed setups we have had. Lots of storage under each bunk, great night sleep. The configuration with twin beds really opens up a small trailer and makes it feel big. But this model (2204) also has a few negatives. Mattress is comfortable but light so tends to move around and out into the aisle when not being used. So we found it’s tough to keep top sheets and blankets tucked in. I made some changes that solved the issue. 1. Added a plastic handle hold that also keeps the mattress in place 2. Added a table between the beds which provides an elevated surface for a bed side light (purchased a lamp from Target which easily converts to 12 volt-wires are inside cabinet for USB charger). We also decided to purchase Buddy’s combination sheets/comforter. The table base is a drawer safe with a table top added. The safe is bolted down and wood top, made exactly the same width as the safe but overhanging on the ends, is glued to it. The Verifi Smart gun safe (purchased from PlanetOptics on-line) is 17.25” wide and fits perfectly between the twin beds adding great secured storage (finger print technology).

Really happy with the results which makes twin beds an even better option—wanted to share these upgrades.
