New MD Gal
Hi all,
Active member of Subaru forums, and finally upgrading from sleeping on an air mattress in a tent to the potential purchase of a 2016 Forest River Flagstaff Classic 625D. I finally looked at it today (3 hours from home), and I swear it has either never been used, or only used once or twice. So, I hope to be an active member and to learn a lot. Thanks in advance! If you are ever in the Annapolis MD area, look me up.

Welcome! I'd ask the dealer to weigh the actual tongue, don't go by the factory spec dry weight. You might easily be over 500 lbs on the tongue, which I imagine is the limit on most Subarus.

Welcome to theorum. Make sure o o a good PDI(pre delivery inspection) and take lot of notes. The PDI forum can be found by going to the green header bar above and click on Library and look for the PDI form its printable. . Good luck and make them fix any issues before you leave the dealer. Welcome to the forum. Just a heads up so you are not surprised later. A quick search says your tongue weight will exceed the capacity of your Subi. Not trying to discourage you, but it is better to know now than after you make the purchase. I have two OB and would not tow that unit with either.

I drive a ‘21 OB XT Touring - tow capacity 3500, tow hitch, 350. This camper is rated at 296 tongue weight. I agree that most Subies cannot handle this load, but after a ton of research, I believe we are set. Do you disagree, knowing I’m not driving the normal 2.5 engine?
Thanks a ton for your input. It’s why I am here.

That doc is terrific! I’ll be printing it and taking it with us. Even if buying used, it’s a great guideline!

I think my PDI guy would run, even at his advanced age, if he saw me coming again. I had the PDI checklist on a clipboard, flashlight, outlet test, and mechanics creeper. Spent 4 hours on PDI. For a 20' camper.
