Just purchased a 2020 Rockwood Roo 233s as our first travel trailer having four kids. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Glad to be a part of this forum.

How old are the kids? If the weather is nice and they are old enough, several of them they might get a kick out of sleeping in a separate tent. If you are new to camping I'd suggest you prepare all the meals before leaving home and just reheat while camping. Keep meals and everything else as simple as possible after getting to your campsite. Lastly I'd suggest spending your first night or two in camp-driveway to get acquainted with the rig. There are always unexpected things the first few trips. Have fun!

Thanks. Kids are 4b, 4b, 7b, & 9g. We’ve tent camped numerous times with the older kids and it’s time we stepped up our game for the whole family. We sometimes backyard tent camp for fun too. Meal prepping is a great idea, thanks and my wife and I just had a conversation this evening about simulating setup and camping in our driveway when we pick up our rig before we head out on our adventures. Right now my biggest worry is towing our Roo 233s with a 2016 GMC Acadia with a 5200lb tow rating. Be safe.

Hi and welcome to FRF, from a former Roo owner.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the 233S will easily exceed your Acadia's max hitch weight and will probably exceed the car's max towing capacity, before you put anything in the trailer.
Suggest that you check out the Roo sub-forum, where there are many 233S owners who will probably confirm my statements.
The fictional dry tongue weight of 708lbs is already over the car's max hitch weight of 520lbs. The trailer's fictional dry weight of 5063lbs will easily be over the 5200lbs max, once you add the weights of battery, water, options and cargo. Plus that 5200 number is rated with only a 150lb driver. The weights of the passengers and cargo in the car, lower the 5200 number by those weights.

How much does a hitch equalizer help? Isn’t it supposed to reduce tongue weight?

The equalizer hitches are designed to help take the weight off the tow vehicle but not entirely fix overloading ,Helps with the sway .Have hitched up yet?

It doesn't reduce tongue weight, it simply shifts some. Doesn't lower your car's max hitch weight.

So I wanted to post an update. I have towed my Roo 233s with my 2016 GMC Acadia Tow pkg with the use of an equalizer hitch. We have been on three camping trips since July 1st (about an hour 1/2 drive each in central Ohio) and all have been successful. Though I would feel more comfortable with a bigger tow vehicle, the Acadia has been better than expected. Slow and steady wins the race and the summer is better camping.
