Hello,
I just purchased a 2011 312Qbud and am new to the board. I know I will learn a lot from other members and thanks in advance for advice.
My first question is I did my homework before I purchased the travel trailer and every spec. I found said this trailer weighs about 6800lbs. Well after I agreed to buy and gave my deposit I learned from the owner that the trailer weighs 8100lbs. I looked again at specs and it said 6800lbs. Got home and looked at specs for the 2010 and it said 8100Lbs.
so I guess my question is what is the difference between those years. The trailer looks the same. I do not plan to tow far just to my local camps. And I have towed this much weight already. But that is a huge weight difference.

According to this site:

https://lagunarv.com/rv/2011-forest-...railer-t00014/

your dry weight is 8196 lbs and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is 10980 lbs, meaning it has a cargo capacity of 2784 lbs. (There should be a sticker on the left front of the trailer that tells you the GVWR, the cargo capacity and "maybe" the dry weight. Looks like this:

Ignore that dry weight; the trailer never really weighed that; it's a marketing ploy by the manufacturers. Doesn't include "appliances," battery, LP gas (that old, anyway), etc.

I would figure it's going to weigh pretty close to 10,000 lbs loaded. That means you'll have about 1300 lbs on your hitch, PLUS the weight of a WDH (weight distribution hitch) of around 100 lbs, or 1400 lbs tongue weight.

Just under 36 ft long.

I'm assuming you have several kids, since it's a bunkhouse.

I sure hope you've got at least a 3/4 ton truck to pull it with.

Look at the payload sticker on your trucks drivers door frame. It will say "Weight of occupants and cargo should not exceed XX lbs." Subtract 1400 lbs tongue weight from this number and what's left has to cover the weight of you, wife, kids, dog, and any stuff you put in the truck.

Good luck.

Welcome from SoCal!
I do not know the answer. Were both specs given by the factory? 8100 lbs, to my way of thinking, has you in 3/4 ton category or certainly at the upper end of Ĺ ton territory. At 10K lbs - firmly in 3/4 ton territory

Thanks for the reply’s. Yes she is heavy! And yes I have a half ton. I have been looking at travel trailers for 2 years now. I really liked the Flagstaff but hard to find used for a good price in Louisiana. I am happy with my purchase and look forward to camping in our new trailer.

Welcome to the forum. Your truck may not have the cap to tow this trailer safely. Pretty havey for a 1/2 ton truck. look at your door jam sticker drivers door and it will give your your trucks ratings. also see post 3. Later RJD

Welcome from SW Ohio , a world of difference w/ a heavy duty truck compared to a light duty truck.. Brakes and frame are much larger, hence much safer.
