New member in Georgia. Headed to Alaska.

Hi there,
My wife and I just purchased a 2012 Surveyor Sport 240. We have taken it out once so far and love it! We are a military family and headed to Fairbanks, Alaska in about 3 weeks. I've been reading these forums for about a month to get any info possible. We would appreciate tips for our 4,000 mile adventure!!!

Thanks!!

Having taken a trip from TN to WA last summer, we are envious of you. The trip preparation and the anticipation were almost as much fun as the trip. We are ex military ourselves and we are recently retired (civilian job). We found the set up and take down every day to be strenous but not overwhelming. The scenery and new experiences were better than expected. I found that I had actually over-planned by overnight reservations for every night on the way out. Returning, we only planned one night ahead. Much more flexible. We enjoyed keeping a blog (didn't know how to spell that before we set one up). But the journalling was very meaningful and our family and friends seemed to really enjoy tracking our progress. Two blown tires were a challenge, but we adapted and kept going-no choice anyway. But that was a learning opportunity and we assumed a positive outlook no matter what.
Enjoy your trip.
