new member, interseted in a surveyor model

Hi Everyone;

I'm new to the RV world. I am interested in the ultra lite Trailer The Forest river surveyor model. Can anyone provide and pros or cons about this model. We are interested in the SV291 model at this time. I have been comparing it to a Keystone Passport. Any information would help in my pick.

Thanks

Are you going to be able to tow the SV291 with you tow vehicle, that's the first thing?

If you look at the threads here you'll see that there's not a lot of serious issues with the surveyor line. I know that we haven't had but a couple of very minor issues with our unit and that was right after we got it. Since then it's been great. While I can't compare it to a Passport, my BIL has a Springdale that has been a good unit.

We have a SV291 and love it. There have been some minor issues, but I have fixed pretty much all of them. We are just finishing up our first year and took it to the dealer for the refrigerator recall. They also replaced the grey/black drain end. Two of the stubs broke off. The weather strippiing on the outside storage bays shrunk and the dealer fixed that also. Both were covered under warranty. Other than adjusting doors and fixing drawer slides it has been great. It pulls fine and sets up very easily.

Here's one more vote for the Surveyor SV291. We are now nearing the end of our second season in it and still very glad that this is the one we chose. I must admit the colors of the 2008 are much nice than the '07, but I wouldn't for that reason alone.we enjoy the room. The set up is easy. it's very easy for us to pull and I've learned to back it into some very tight spots with a very good guide. The only thing I can complain about is the 2 drain outlets on the holding tanks. I'd rather have a single outletand 2 gate valves like we had on our old Hybrid.

Hi Bama,

We have an '07 and it only has the single drain valve. Is it the '08's with two?

We have a 2008 SV291 and we LOVE IT!

Perfect for us... Me and the Mrs with three kids.

We pull it with the TV listed in the sig... no problems and better gas mileage!

Hello,

We have a Surveyor 235RKS like acadianbob and have been exremely pleased also...especially with the 'lack' of issues we have had! In our opinion it is very well built for a TT. We looked at and liked the SV291 also but felt the 235RKS fit us better.

We also looked at many other brands in this size and price range and felt the Surveyor was definitely one of the best.

We got our 291 a couple of months ago and love it. Great family lay out, storage is good and tows nice behind a 1/2 ton. We have enjoyed it a couple of weekends and some driveway camping. Its full of anti-freeze now. Frost is moving in, and that sucks.

Yes Bama the new ones have 2 gate valves and one discharge.

surveyor model line

thanks again everyone we are still looking and deciding. but the surveyor is at the top of our list. thanks again. one thing we noticed is that the bathroom door opens into the bunks in the SV291. The bunk drape, when closed hampers your entrance onto the bathroom. The rope the us to secure the drape to the slide rail look very weak and could break.

Thanks again

Just my opinion... but if you are worried about the apparent cheapness of a few of the things like this... then be ready to be dissappointed unless you spend A LOT more money.

Surveyor is a really good TT. But all TTs in this price range are going to have things like the tie backs, or stuck on trim in places that are going to need the owner to "mod". That is part of it.

YMMV... good luck!
