New Mini Lite 2506S Owner

A long long time ago when I was young, camping to me was backpacking 20 to 30 miles a day. My wife likes to hike, but never really got into the backpacking. Years back when the kids were young, my brother gave me his old pop up which we used for a few years. This unit had no bath, heater, or A/C. Since my brother always camped with hookups he removed the water tanks (under the dinette seats) for more storage. Now that I’m older creature comforts are more important.

A few times a year we would look at campers, mainly just to kill a day with no intent of buying. In mid July we went looking for fun and saw a used 2020 Rockwood Mini Lite 2506S. The unit looked like it had never been used and no WD hitch had ever been mounted to it. My wife kept looking at it, loved the kitchen counter space, and said “buy it”. After a little negotiating we got it for about half of the MSRP, so I think we got a good deal. Before purchasing the trailer I climbed on the roof and found that there were bubbles all over the roof. It appeared that the adhesive , or the roof itself, outgassed causing bubbles to form just below the outer skin of the roof. The dealer contacted Forest River and they agreed to a warranty roof replacement.

Our first trip was over July 4th weekend and in September we spent 2½ weeks in it at the beach. All told we've been out 7 times for 31 nights in 3 months with a few more weekends planned in October. Depending on the weather we may try to get in a trip or two in November before we winterize.

At first I was hesitant to make any changes. Mainly because I like to try things out and determine EXACTLY how I want it to be so as not to modify the modification. Secondly, because I have to sell the wife (she knows I WILL go overboard). Thirdly, I want the change to be seamless and look like it came that way (this is also the only way to sell it to the wife). So far the following mods/additions have been done:
• Built an extra carpeted step with hidden storage next to the bed for the dog to be able to get up.
• Coat hooks by the front door (hard sell to the wife, she loves them now).
• Added shelving to the wardrobe closets next to the bed.
• Installed the fence post under the trailer for stinky slinkies.
• Added under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. These are rechargeable motion activated.
• Added remote controlled lights under the wardrobe cabinets by the bed. The brightness is a fraction of the ceiling lights.
• Added a backboard behind the pull out grill in the outside kitchen. This allows me to pull the grill out and use the space for storage without objects hitting the plumbing.

I've done a lot if digging through this forum and have found it to be one of the better forums, and better forum members than most. I've been able to get good info here that helped me, and I hope I can contribute to this group going forward.

Dropped it on Wednesday after our beach trip and they were done by Monday.
When we picked it up I looked at the service order "Replace roof, it has warts."

We're new 2506s owners too. Got ours in mid September. Decided our pop up was too much work for us at this stage, and found the 2506s and loved the layout. The back bedroom allows me to sleep in while the hubs gets up early. And we love the kitchen layout with all the windows!

We've been hitting the state parks in PA, and so far the only mod we'd like to do is to figure out a way to tone down the brightness of the light over the dinette. I'm sure it's easy, we just haven't taken the time to research it yet.

Can you provide a link for the rechargeable under-counter lights, and a picture of the step? (We don't have a dog but DW is short.)

I added this dimmer on the main switch panel to control the ceiling and awning lights. I plan to add another to the dining light fixture, replacing the push button. (I have not investigated whether it fits without modification.) It's not just a dimmer. There's a solid "off" click when turned down completely.

Someone advised that some LEDs are not designed for dimmers and that their life may be shortened as a result. I haven't experienced a problem yet.
12 Volt DC Dimmer for LED

I'm short too and use a foldable stool to get up into the bed -we store it in one of the dinette drawers when not in use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014WOXB6O/

Picked up the lights at WM https://www.walmart.com/ip/Auto-Driv...stic/843494172

The storage step I added is the short one, the taller one houses outside storage
