New RV and New to Camping

Hello All,

Last December, as complete newbies, we bought a FR3 DS33, and had a complete blast camping between Virginia and Tennessee - where we visited our son, returning to our farm in NJ just before the first storm in January.

We found out a lot - real fast. It is very hard for a newbie to start out with the weather in the mid-teens. We ended up waiting until the weather was above freezing. That I hadn't trimmed the branches on our farm lane back far enough - breaking both vent covers. That plastic sheeting and Gorilla Repair tape will hold out the breeze and water until you can replace whatever you broke.
Going the fuel up is usually a 20 minute stop, and going 350 miles in a day was enough for us.

But the camping was great! Had a blast! We will be heading out again soon.

Our Max appears to be 950mi. Many many 600s and 700s. You'll get there.. haha. For your sake, I hope you don't have to push that hard. Glad you're loving it.

I type this as Corona has cancelled our spring camping and we're spending the night in the camper in the driveway at the kids' request. They're 8 and 2 and itchin' to go... Week after next we get to....

300 miles a day is easy. 600 is not.

It’s a vacation!

We have a ton of nice places to go within 300 miles!

Go somewhere. Have fun.

Welcome to the world of RV Camping.

Your daily limit is about the same as mine. There was a time when I drove from dawn to after dark but as I got older I decided to take time to actually see the countryside.

As for the 20 minute fuel stops (gas for me) I don't mind them as long as I'm not in line behind someone taking an hour for theirs. Usually someone who parks at the pump then the whole family goes in to try and clean out the food and trinket selection inside.
