New RVers
Wow, what a great source of information. My wife and I are retired in North Myrtle Beach and decided to buy a Travel Trailer. We started looking at small campers but could not find one we were happy with until we found a very lightly used 2019 Rockwood 2511S. One thing leads to another and I decided that my Nissan Frontier 6000 lb towing capacity just was not going to safely tow this trailer. I am now the owner of a used, but low mileage GMC 1500 Sierra. I seemed to be able to tow the 2511S home easily enough. My wife told me the mattress had to go so the first thing I did was buy a new (100 lb) foam mattress for her. Now I’m worried from what I am reading about tongue weight. Whew, what’s next 😩😳

Welcome to the forum. You should find the answer to most all of your questions here.
The mattress swap should not make a big difference. Ignore towing capacity. Look at the yellow sticker on the door jamb and find cargo capacity. Subtract from that number (0.13Xloaded trailer weight), 100 lbs for WDH, and weight of passengers and cargo in truck, If the remaining number is positive you should be fine. It is good that you are being careful. Do the math then go enjoy your new camper.

Counselor, welcome, and the tongue weight capacity usually increases for trucks our size when using a WDH.
