New to everything

Greetings.

I probably should have joined this forum first, but I tend to do everything backwards. We decided a few years ago, when the kids got old enough, to buy a camp on a lake so they could enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, etc. Unfortunately in our area, the only affordable lakefront property is really several hours away. We assume if we have to drive that far, we'll seldom use it. We decided to look at seasonal campsites close by, instead.

We finally found one we like, paid for next year, and started camper shopping. Holy Mackerel, there are a ton of camper options. After looking at a million campers of every make, model, size, and floor plan, we decided on the Cherokee 304BH and put a deposit on one. We'll load it into our campsite in a month, winterize it, then wait for spring.

I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm hoping to learn some tips to keeping my camper in good condition, without leaks, and winterized for years of good camping. I see some campers that seem to last forever with no issues and others that fall apart in a year or so. I'm assuming some of this has to do with maintenance, so I want to start off on the right foot.

Thanks for having me!

Welcome to the forum and don't be afraid to ask questions there is a wealth of information here. The more details you can provide with your question, the better the answer you will get. While you are waiting, read through ( maybe even print some) of the great informative pieces in the library section of this forum. See Library in the green bar above.

This is a great forum. Any question you might have, a quick search usually yields answers. If it doesn't, just ask away and someone surely will come along and help with an answer.

To learn the basics, I run a site called LearnToRV. I have a "Learning & Resources" section that includes an area called "Newbies, Get Started Here":

Welcome from a 2018 Cherokee Patriot Edition 304BS owner.
Eastern Nebraska / Northwest Missouri. The 304's are beastly.
