New to Popup world

Hello,
After many years of playing around with the idea of getting a pop-up, my wife and I have been offered the opportunity to buy a used 1996 Forest River-Flagstaff model FST17SD. The folks selling it have owed it since 1998 and it has served them well. The canvas is stained in a few places and has a few holes in it as does the netting. Part of the trim above the window by the table is loose and screws are gone. I guess my question for the Forum is how long should I expect a pop-up to last that has been stored outside during the winter under a tarp and what things could go wrong? Any thoughts or advice would be helpful. Thanks

Hard to tell how long it will last without seeing it, but a 10yr old popup should be very inexpensive. Just so you don't have any surprises ( unexpected expenses) check the date code on the tires. Over 4 yrs old probably need to be replaced. You can not go by tread. Same for battery. If it has electric brakes, you will need a working battery. Check for mold. It is difficult to get rid of and keep away. Check frame for rust. Check roof for soft spots. You can replace the canvas.

Popup's can go a long time if taken care of. We had ours for 20 yrs. I replaced the faucet and the fridge didn't like to run on propane half the time, but otherwise it was in good shape. Unfortunately, mice got into it in year 20 and that was it.
