New to RV world. Young couple

Bought my first rv last week. I am only 27 years old and live in SC. Mainly bought it to take my 2 year old daughter to the beach and different areas and maybe a nascar race now and then. Bought a 2013 Rockwood Signature Ultra lite 8312SS. We haven't been able to use it yet.lol but looking forward to it. Anything I need to be leary of with this camper? I hope I picked a good one. THANKS

Welcome to the Forum and to the RV Lifestyle! You chose well - we have owned a Rockwood in the past and it is a quality camper!

The first couple of items you will want to purchase will be a Progressive EMS (to protect your camper's electronics and electrical system) This link is to the 50AMP version - there is a 30AMP one if your RV is 30AMP.
:
Progressive Industries RV Surge and Electrical Protection industry lea

Also get a good high quality sewer hose - Rhinoflex is one of the better moderate priced units out there:

Finally, get a good fresh water hose and a variable pressure regulater. Make sure the water pressure to your RV never exceeds 65PSI and you will be fine!

https://www.amazon.com/Camco-22853-P...esh+water+hose

https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-A01-...water+pressure

If you have any more questions - ask away - lots of friendly folks in the forums!

I see you jumped right in the deep end, good for you, enjoy it!

Tons of good advice on here make sure you do lots of research.

I'll give you a good start:

Don't leave the black tank handle open when on full hookups. Last thing you want is the dreaded Poop Pyramid!!!

Welcome to the family! You can get on here anytime, if you need assistance, advice, a kick in the behind...well, maybe not that, but just about anything else. You'll find plenty of people, who are more than willing to help.

Good luck with your new home on wheels!

Welcome! There is a never ending list of wants, a long list of should haves, and a smaller list of needs for a new camper. Hopefully this list can give you a start:

http://learntorv.com/newbie-first-trip-essentials/

Otherwise, there isn't too much to be afraid of. Dumping sewer is usually the second thing that people are sketched out about. But, truthfully- it's not nearly as terrible as you might think. The first, of course, is often towing. Slow and steady wins that race- don't let anyone rush you and, if you can spare the time, go into an empty parking lot with red solo cups and a couple gallons of water. You can use the solo cups to build campground setups to practice backing in. Cheap if you crush a couple and the water acts as ballast to combat any kind of breeze.

Wife and I just upgraded from a travel trailer to a Class A and we have some parts and pieces that we dont need anymore like surge protector, water filter, leveling blocks, wheel chalks. Shoot me a PM and I will sell it to you cheap if you need it. It's only 6 months old. I'd rather someone on here get a deal then run the risk of getting robbed on Craigslist.

When our girls were small and we were still working, we had a Rockwood Signature UltraLite 8317 bunkhouse. (I think that was the #). The only problems we ever had were a leak in the shower where they forgot to put in any caulking. I took care of that in about 3 minutes. We had a couple of pieces of trim that came loose on our first couple of trips that the DH took care of with his brad nailer. Took him about 5 minutes.

That was it!

We kept it for about 5 years until we retired and the girls needed a bit more room since we were full-timing for 3 -4 months each year. It was a good trailer.
