Newbie from Ky

Just picked up my new A126 Rockwood Hard Side Popup. I love it. Granted I've only been that crazy neighbor playing in the driveway so far, but my wife and I are excited tomb new owners.

We had been looking for a used Aliner when I discovered the Rockwood hard side models. Seems to be a great value for the feature set and good build quality so far.

First trip coming up next weekend. Now just to get familiar with the inter workings of the trailer and we are good to go!

Great forum with great info. Been a nice resource. Thanks to all the contributors.

Welcome to the forums!

I love Kentucky party cuz it has many great parks!
Some folks are partial to private CGs like Jellystone or KOA but I'm partial to state
and national park camping.

Where are you headed??
We also often bug out the weekend after Labor Day.
Some folks have no choice and if they want a long weekend they have to go
on a holiday weekend so those weekends tend to be busy. Typically the
weekend before and after a holiday tend to be less crowded than a normal
weekend and lots less crowded than the holiday itself.

Anyway have fun!! One tip. Take a little pocket notebook and write notes.
You'll "get out there" and realize you forgot this or that or just didn't think you'd
want something and now you do. Write it down.
We have a pack list that is a word doc that sits on our desktop of our PC.
Each trip, even if it's just a 2 day, we print the list and check off stuff as it
gets packed.
We constantly edit or tweak this list and we use it every time.

I also have one of those accordion file folders that I keep in my truck.
I put campground maps and park brochures in there as we travel.
IF we return to a park or CG I can look in there and find notes about which
were our favorite sites and some we might want to avoid.

Happy Camping!

I did the same thing. Was looking for a used Aliner and found the Rockwood's. I have the A128 and love it. Been out in it twice so far and everything is good. Went through torrential rains on the last outing and no issues! Hoping to get in another couple trips before packing it away for the winter. Good luck with yours & happy camping.

Thanks for all the tips. Sorry for not getting back to this thread until now. We've been busy getting ready, and just got back from our first trip.

We went out to Spring Mill State Park in Indiana for our first trip. We spent 3 days 2 nights there and had a great time. Indiana and Kentucky have some great state parks, I agree. Sadly I have to admit that Indiana does a better job overall on their parks. There's a small fee for park entry, but camping rates are virtually the same as Kentucky and there tend to be more activities planned in the InDNR parks.

We will be doing plenty of Kentucky camping as well however. I think state parks are overlooked by a large portion of the population.

The notebook was a great idea. I have a few notes from our trip regarding procedures, things we missed (things we didn't need).

I used a word document for packing as well. (two actually - one for food/menu, the other for gear/etc).
