Newbie from MO

Hello,
We just bought a 2020 23MK and brought it home yesterday. It was bought from an individual who bought it last year and never used it because of a sudden illness.

Except for YouTube videos, we have zero experience on how anything runs. I’m hoping this community will point us in the right direction. We love going to the Black Hills and have been wanting our own travel trailer for years. Our plans are to start expanding out from that further west after we get comfortable using our RV. This one kind of fell into our lap and we couldn’t pass it up.

I will be doing a lot of searching today. Lol. My biggest question right now is, can we plug into our home and run the furnace to deep clean the inside.

Congratulations and Welcome from New Jersey, Is your unit 30a or 50a? There is a adapter to be able to plug it into a 120v outlet, You can run your heater but wouldn't run your a/c

Your furnace runs off propane which will need to be turned on. It uses the battery to ignite it and run the fan. So plugging it into the house will help keep the battery charged, but you need an adapter.
Please note... since that furnace has never been used, it's going to smell as it burns off the oil that's been there from the manufacturing process.
Also, be careful with cleaning products. You have a propane detector that doesn't like harsh cleaners and if that goes off, it will definitely drive you out of the rig. It's loud.

Thanks Chris! It’s a 30a. I have the camper cord ran into the surge protector that came with it, the adapter plugged into that and a heavy duty extension cord running to power at the house. The camper has 2 20 gal tanks that are full. I was wondering if I could run the furnace to warm up the camper (it’s in the mid 40’s today) so my wife and I can clean it? Also, how long will those tanks last running the furnace?

Thank you the reply! Camper has never been used to we did set off the smoke detector when I first turned it on. I’m going to go turn the furnace on so it will warm up. Thank you again and thanks for the heads up on the cleaning products!

Welcome to the forum. Depending how much you run the furnace will determine how long a tank will last. If its real cold and you leave it on a 20 # will get you by 2 days. I use ceramic heaters to heat my camper and works very well. Later RJD

My wife and I, and I think most people here, use a small electric heater. When it gets so cold the electric heater cannot maintain a comfortable temperature add the furnace. The electric is cheaper than propane.
