Newbie from NC with a Ford F-150 Question

Greetings from Kannapolis, NC. Just bought a 2015 Wildwood X Lite. This is our first camper and we have NO clue what we are doing. We took it out for a little backing practice at a parking lot but so far, that's about it. I'm using a 2014 Ford F150 and I keep getting a "Trailer Disconnected" message every time I touch the braking. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks.

First suggestion is to check all the camper plugs connections for broken or corroded contacts.

I had the same issue a while back. A good dose of contact cleaner on connection where the umbilical plugs into the truck took care of the issue. Then I got a gizmo that the umbilical sits in when not connected to keep the contacts dry and clean.
Something like one of these: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Boat-RV-C...b0383732f23206

If this doesn't do the trick, you likely have a bad connection somewhere in the brake wiring on the trailer.

Make sure your trailer wiring plug (7 pin) is plugged in all the way to your truck.

What brake controller do you have? OEM or aftermarket BC?
I also own a 2014 F150 so it might help if you provide more information about your truck.
Like regular tow package or the Max Tow package? Trim level?
