Newbie Full Timers

Hello! My name is Brittany, dating/married to Brad since 2006/2008 and we will be full timing it out of one primary location with our 13yo daughter, 11yo son, 45+lb Aussiedoodle, and 10lb cat. We will likely travel some too, but limited to our daughter’s travel softball venues for now, as it seems to double as our vacation time these days. We haven’t purchased our rig just yet, but we’re leaning towards a 2022 Coachmen Chaparral 355FBX. Our house went on the market Friday, June 3 and once we close we’ll be making the purchase in cash and going as close as possible to debt free living. The realtor assures us it will go very quickly. Does anyone have this make/model rig currently? I’d love to pick your brain!

Hi and Welcome to FRF.
Suggest that you check out the Coachmen sub-forum in the TT/5th Wheel section. Ask your model-specific questions there.

We don't have that rig, but it looks like it's got everything you need. Two separate bedroom areas, two bathrooms and the rest of the rig has a very friendly family layout.

Don't assume that you can walk in and buy the rig you want. Your relator may know houses, but not rvs. There are backorders on most rigs. Some of the rigs you see in rv lots aren't complete and are waiting for parts.

If you find the rig and put a deposit on it....
Before you finalize the purchase, make certain that everything works on the rig. Once you sign the final papers, you'll be shoved into the Service department and they are really backed up.
If you're towing, make certain you have a large enough truck. Make certain that you have a site.

Contrary to popular opinion, rving may be debt free as far as monthly payments, but it's not inexpensive. They are a bit like cars, they need frequent maintenance. They can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Do your research before you sell your house.

Have y'all secured an RV spot? Make sure you have that hammered out as it can be surprising at how hard it is to find a stationary spot these days.
