Newbie to RV'S

Hey all, Jimbo G here. Never owned even a pop-up camper, usually haul the ATV'S on a trailer and then set up a canvas tent that sleeps 4. Now my neighbor has given me the RV Bug! looking to haul a CanAm 1000 outlander Max XT Limited touring machine and an RV that can sleep 3-4 folks if possible.

The tow vehicle is a 2017 Ford F-150 3.5 EcoBoost that can tow up to 8K or a little more but want to keep the weight down to @5K Lbs as I live in the Rockies and always encounter steep grades and high altitudes.

The Can Am runs 900lbs. If you want to stay below 5k lbs WITH the CanAm aboard, you'll be hard pressed to do that with anything of size.

Still, it's not undoable. Thinking small toyhauler:
• NoBoundaries 19.1
• Geo Pro G19FBTH
• Jay Flight Octane 222 (shiver)
• Escape E180TH
• or, one of my favorites, the ATC Game Changer 2015

Double check your CanAm's size, but the above might get you started. There's also a few lists out there with these kinds of reccos, too:

Hope this helps!

the dry weight is like 3500lbs, with the canam add another 1K lbs and then of course water etc bring it to it's max GVWR or 5K Lbs. Thanks for the suggestions on these other brands, will have to go check them out.

I suggest you go over to the Ford F-150 forums and get more info there on your truck’s towing capacities. 3.5EB is rated to tow 7000# with a receiver hitch with no tow package.
Engine, wheelbase, body style with bed size, type of tow package if any will be needed to cross reference your truck’s factory towing capacity. And all is limited by truck load capacity listed on the yellow door frame sticker.
Do you have a trailer brake controller? You need one at that weight in almost every state. The factory Integrated Brake Controller is fairly easy to install, lots of posts on that on the F150 forums.
Towing mirrors or mirror extensions needed depending on trailer width.
