NEWBIE - to travel trailers & this forum

Hello,

We're new to owning and camping in a travel trailer, in fact, we haven't even used it yet. Often referred to as "Glamping" here in Alaska. We live in Southcentral Alaska just outside of Anchorage. Before buying the Glamper (2015 Forest River - Salem Cruise Lite: 272QBXL) we were tent campers. We bought our Glamper from friends last fall. Living in Alaska, we had just enough time to pull it home once, winterize it, then pull it back to the storage lot - our HOA restricts recreational vehicles/equipment to May-Oct.

I have some experience pulling and backing trailers, but those were mostly bass boats and flatbeds when I lived in Florida. I'm by no means an expert- more of a comfortable, intermediate level. I did/do have some issues backing this trailer into our driveway as there's a bit of downward incline approaching the driveway, then a dip where the driveway meets the road, and then an upward incline from the road to the house causing the trailer to bottom-out/drag in the driveway. I found this site while researching this issue. I'm sure I'll find many forum threads addressing this issue, but figured I'd throw out there in my introduction as well.

I know that I don't know a lot about travel trailer issues and I'm sure there's more 'I don't know that I don't know.' I'm here to learn.

Thanks
Mark
