Newbies soon to be travelling through your amazing country

Random story...

Here we were, happily living our lives in our newly purchased house north of Dublin, Ireland in a small sleepy town, when I got a wonderful job opportunity here in the US where I will work for 15 days on, and have the next 13 days absolutely care and duty free.

If you're not aware, there is a MASSIVE housing shortage in Ireland, and we were lucky enough to purchase in the slump before the COVID purchase panic set in. What to do? Rent out our brick and mortar and rent here? Buy a house?

We were not willing to rent or buy again, as the market is overpriced and underserved, and my friend whom we visited in a rented Class C RV several years prior made a joke -why don't you buy an RV, and live in it whilst you tour through the US? Foreigners, full timing through the US? I could not think of a better way to explore and experience your country!

Well, heck. It seems our offer on a 2014 Forest River Sierra 376BHOK was just accepted, and the dream is now a reality.

We, as absolute novices, and visitors to your beautiful country look forward to learning from you all, and reading about your experiences and listening to the advice you are all so keen to share.

Warm regards,

The Roaming Van's.

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum --- welcome to the US --- welcome to camping!

Hope you enjoy roaming our wonderful country. Many sights to see and many wonderful people to share stories with! Many more that you will end up taking back to Ireland with you when the time comes!

Don't be afraid to ask any and all questions here in the forums: the only stupid question is the one you never asked! The people here are the best!

If you're ever in the west, you may run into us here in the Wilds of Wyoming!

Enjoy the views --- so many to take in!

Welcome! Sounds like a great opportunity to see the USA. If you are in/around Michigan I can provide suggestions on what to see.

Hi and Welcome to FRF.
That's a big trailer, have you secured a big truck to pull it?

Thanks for the very warm welcome everyone.

Bikendan - It is huge! I’m used to driving ambulances and towing my boat - so I hope this has prepared me for what may lie ahead.
As for the vehicle - I’m keeping my eye out on for a well looked after older-model dually. Thankfully we’re in no rush to hit the road just yet as my wife has a huge exam to pass first.

Welcome to America. You have a great opportunity to see our country and there is no better way to do that than in and RV.

Being new to RVing, you did the best thing you could to get started with RVing - Join a RV Forum like the Forest River Forum. You will find that most people involved with RVing are very friendly folks and always happy to help a fellow RVer.

So enjoy your time visiting us and safe travels.

Just be aware that trucks are in short supply here, especially heavy duty trucks. Used ones are fetching very high prices and are gone quickly.
