NorCal checking in!

I’ve been lurking on this forum for a couple years doing research on trailers and tow vehicles. So, first and foremost, THANK YOU to all those that have been good enough to share thoughts, opinions, specifications, good/bad experiences, reviews etc. I’ve found so much useful information already and perhaps I’ll be able to contribute sometime soon.

I grew up tent camping but grew to love the trailer/RV camping lifestyle in my early 20’s. I’ve spent the last 2-3 years slowly getting my family into trailer camping. We’ve rented quite a few trailers over that time to let them experience how fun and easy the RV life is and to try on a few different trailer layouts.

It worked!

After the rentals, several RV shows, dealership visits and waaaaay too much time on this here forum we’re ready to pull the trigger. We’re in the market as soon as my local guy gets some more stock of Cherokee 274DHB. Initially we were looking at the GreyWolf 26DBH (almost identical product) but we started salivating at the flush floor slide out on the Cherokee. It may be an optical illusion but it matters to us! I also like the way the spring over trailers look when hitched.

In terms of tow vehicle after way too much research and far too many test drives we settled on a 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie quad cab. It’s a good mix of features and utility. We’re often 6 people in the cab so I needed that front bench seat! The truck has towed the rental trailers beautifully with the exception of a little sag, which I fixed with a Firestone HD1000 bag kit (thanks again to this forum).

Anyway, the family is so excited to get into the lifestyle and we’ve even got a few different trips planned for the next year. See you out there!

It’s not camping but glamping is better than nothing.

We’re on the outskirts of West Roseville.

Do you have any thoughts on local-ish spots to camp? I’m looking for something within an hour or so to take the rig out to start working he bugs out of things before we do a longer trip in January. Thanks in advance!
