Be careful here.

The length of 33’. Will cause sway on the highway. How bad depends. A little or a roll over. Somewhere in between.

A fancy hitch will help. But, it adds payload which you do not have. The hitch weight will be near #800. Add to that the weight of anything not on the truck the day you bought it like. You and the DW. The kids and dog. Anything in the bed. Gasoline.

I would be concerned with a half ton truck.

Do not go on a long trip till you test it out.

Might be swell!

First off, we're not trying to bust your balls just for the fun of it.

Looking at the specs for your truck I'll have to make some assumptions, 4x4 and crew cab since you said you have 2 children as well. Pulled specs from cars.com

Your truck:

Gross combined weight rating (everything and everyone): 12,000 lbs
Towing : 7,000 lbs
Front axle: 3200 lbs
Rear axle: 3500 lbs
Payload 1472 lbs
Gross vehicle weight rating (total weight in/on the truck): 6000 lbs
Curb weight (factory number): 4496 lbs

Your TT:
dry weight (somewhat shady # from factory) : 5956 lbs
Pay load: 1724 lbs
Hitch weight (weight directly down on the rear of your truck): 680 lbs (minimum) PLUS a weight distribution hitch which is another 100 lbs

So if you load your trailer out to the max that is 7,680 lbs -> This is over your towing capacity. Add that to your curb weight, 12,196 lbs, again over your gross combined weight for your vehicle.

Next, your payload is 1472, subtract your hitch weight (minimum) 780, now you only have 692 lbs. Now subtract the 4 of you, which having no idea how big any of you are lets say 2 adults 270 lbs (150 and 130) now you are down to 422 lbs. Lets subtract 2 small children, another 100 lbs. That gets us to 322 lbs. So, not much room for food, chairs, toys, bedding, water, etc.

So, as you see. We aren't trying to beat you up, just trying to help you see what is safe for your family. This is OUR utmost importance here.

The OP has yet to post the payload capacity sticker number of the Colorado.
That's what I'd like to see first because he only posts the fantasy 7000lbs towing capacity number.
sugerray's 1472lbs number is off the internet, not the actual payload number, as equipped from the factory.

Understand about the ball busting. LOL. I do have a crew cab, but only the 2WD. i just went and read the stickers, cars.com is pretty close. I really appreciate the help, and am trying to convince the SO, who wanted the TT in the first place, to trade her car in. As for weight, I try to not have full loads of water, which has worked so far.

First, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new camper.

Second, I have to echo the caution that others have posted about towing a 33'8" long, 10' high camper with a Colorado of any spec. The issues with the Colorado will be payload and wheelbase, with towing capability third.

Regardless of what the brochure and salesperson says, your new trailer will probably be over 7000# once you get all your stuff loaded. The key here is the amount of weight that you'll be asking your truck to carry, not how much you're asking it to pull. It's ability to carry a load is defined by the frame, suspension, wheels and tires. The towing capability is defined by the power train (engine and transmission). At 7000#, the tongue weight will be at least 700# but more likely in the 800# range. You'll also have your family in the Colorado, adding more weight to it. If you added any accessories like Line-X or a tonneau cover or bed cap, that adds more weight. And the weight distribution hitch adds about 75#, too. Add it all up and you will almost certainly exceed the Colorado's GVWR. BTW, having a higher trim level on the truck also lowers its "payload" capacity. One online spec I found says a 2017 Colorado LT has a GVWR of 5500# and a payload of 1470#. There will be a sticker on the rear pillar of your drivers door that will give you a real payload number (aka cargo carrying capacity) for your specific truck.

According to the spec I saw online, the Colorado has a relatively short wheelbase of 128". That's very short for a tall camper that's nearly 34' long.

Also according to the spec I saw online, the Colorado has a tow rating of 7000#. So you'll probably be over that, too.

Please take your fully loaded setup to a CAT scale and use this explanation for how to weigh it at the scale. If you are over the truck's GVWR, that's not good. If you are over its rear axle rating (RAWR), that's really bad.

Sorry about all the comments that contradict what you've been lead to believe, but we want you and your family to be safe. I had a 7300# TT and pulled it with a F-150 and I was 200# over my RAWR when loaded and my family of 5 on board. Many of us here have made the same mistake.

Since everyone is fixated on your truck, I'll answer your original question. YES ! You can use any standard type of wall mount for your TV. We hung a 42" on the wall of our Cherokee. I was able to use lag screws that were about 1/4" shorter than the wall thickness and the TV and mount hold strong and we've had no trouble with it traveling.

SandFox, did you have a chance to take your setup to a scale yet? Just curious how you’re doing with it.

Cool. I hope it serves you well. Don’t forget to post your scale numbers. There aren’t a lot of members with the big Nissan Titan.
