Slide out troubles

I have a 2016 Prime Time Crusader 295 RST. I don't like leaving my sliders out when I'm not using the unit. It's on a seasonal camp site. Recently my rear sliders failed to retract but no issues with the front slider. I am plugged into an AC source but in checking the battery I found it at 5.72 Vdc. It is brand new but won't take a charge. I changed the battery with a spare I have with a full charge. My sliders attempted to retract a couple inches then stopped. I was able to get the sliders to fully extend. I don't understand why the sliders are not working with the AC source? Why does the battery have to be installed with anAC sorce? Since I don't have a detailed schematic troubleshooting is challenging? Does this have to go back to the dealer? I contacted Forest River and will cover parts and labor I would like to have it fixed on site rather then haul it 200 miles. Any experience with on site repair unit located in Tunkhannock Pennsylvania.

Your slides work off 12V power and are more then likely wired direct to the battery. You need the battery to provide the power or the unit plugged into shore power to provide 12V to the battery from the converter.

Check your converter if it is charging battery. When charging, battery voltage should be above 13 volts dc.....
