Still Camping

Joined the travel trailer camping world this weekend, purchasing a 2018 FR Cherokee 251RK. Predecessor camp units were 25' Class C with a full wall slide, ultra lite 5th Wheel, tent, tent trailer and popup truck camper. Loved them all, well maybe not the tent.

Welcome to Forest River Forums

I'm from the Sunshine State, on Florida's west coast.

Make sure to, check both upper and lower MENUs as this is a large Forum. On the second MENU click on "USER CP" and fill in as much RV information as you can, as this will help others who see your post for help can in-turn check your USER CP to give you a little quicker response to your question(s) for help. Doing this will save time on follow-up questions.

If you need a USER MANUAL, both Forest River and Coachmen have them online for most all RVs models/units back about five to seven years. Just go to the MAIN Page for "Forest River Models click HERE and for CoachmenRV click Here Find your model RV and go to the bottom of the page in the BLACK on your left you will find OWNER'S MANAUL

Next, click back on top MENU "FORUMS" and pan down the page to find your RV NAME or Coachmen.. Understand, this forum belongs to FRF, so only FR RV Models are listed by name. But in each category shown has COACHMEN [/I][/B] The Coachmen category and NO Model NAMES are shown for Coachmen's, only the name Coachmen

You may find this FREE stuff from FRF interesting and fun as it's all FREE for members: Click HERE

Let the adventures begin with you and your Family OUTDOORS!

Sounds good. Have fun.
I have not stopped camping in tents at 73 because RVs can't go everywhere. The best places to camp are backpacking a long way from a road, or on a wild river somewhere. I use tents for those.

Headed out with the RV this week for the first trip of the year to the mountains. We will work around the snow.

I understand not loving the tent. It is the least expensive entry into camping, but we've been there and done that.

Congratulations on your Cherokee and welcome to the forum!

some people have never had the experience of a canvas wall tent with a wood stove for a week in some far flung mountain range. It is the best of all. I have lived in my wall tent for up to a month running tree planting crews.

I've done a canvas wall tent with a wood stove in a "far flung country". That's called a bivouac or a deployment in the military! Thanks for the offer; but I don't care to do it again.

I like RVs. I have had one for 25 years. They are great for traveling with the wife and dogs. Great in the shoulder season, Good in winter in lower country.

But they can't go everywhere. That is the point.
I reject the idea that people graduate from a tent to an RV and never look back.
