Man, you almost have to be a double jointed pygmie to get in this space....don't they do anything easy? What happens if I cut too much off?

You're right! Cutting off too much could seriously impair the functionality of your unit. After you get the matter of access taken care of, put your hand in and feel around for the approximate center. Then take a 3/8 bit and drill a hole. Use your SAW to enlarge the hole bit by bit until you can reach in from the outside and feel the inside perimeter of the mounting plate. After that just keep on going till you get the results you are looking for. I'll try to check in with you tonight to see what you think after you have time to check it out further.

Ok.....I was actually thinking I might use a gear puller, because I know it would be true to center and the hole would be located at the correct position for the install.

I bet it's not a "handle" at all. I bet it's a base to a stand for the flat screen TV. If your TV is already mounted to the wall then you don't need it, but since you paid for it they're obliged to give it to you. Besides, what are they going to do with 5000 or so of these things?

I bet if you read your flat screen TV manual, you'll figger out what this is.

If you cut it off to short you could use the wood stretcher.
