Total Newb to RV'ing - thank God for the Internet
Hey all! Sorry for the political spin, Kathy (the Mrs.) and I recently retired and bought our first RV ever and brought it home a few days ago. It is a 2012 Sunseeker 2250S, a 24' class C with a single slide that allows for a "walk" around queen size bed and just of 10K miles on it.
Our first night was spent at a nearby state park and things went fine but I know we have a lot to learn. Which is fine - I think that's a great part of the experience.
We live near Omaha Nebraska, love the Big Red and also love to travel. I am really looking forward to getting the most out of this rig and also this forum! Having browsed here a little bit, I'm sure we will be learning a ton!
As total newbies, any general advise as well as specific info on this model would be much appreciated.
Maybe someday, we can return the favor!

Welcome from Wisconsin and congrats on your 2012 Sunseeker 2250S. We were all first time RV owners at one time and yes there is a learning curve. Don't worry, you'll get it all figured out. Lots of friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people here to assist you with any questions.

Welcome and congrats
Search is your friend - a lot of people have found and fixed a lot out here.
Camp Driveway is one of your favourite sites. Figure things out and it's only a walk back inside for what you need / forgot.
"NEWB" ... not at all. You will learn more here by accident, than in other places by design.
Most Important, Have Fun !!!!

Welcome to the forum from Missouri your neighbor to the southeast. Enjoy your 2012 Sunseeker 2250S. I read the forum all the time and relearning things I had forgotten years ago. We just got back into RVing this year after being away for 18 years or more. Lots to learn. Just take your time and enjoy your RVing experience. Setting around the campfire in the evening is one of the things we enjoy.
Have fun and travel safe.

Congrats on your new-to-you Sunseeker. For a newbie, I'd suggest 2 things that really helped us:
1) Checklists, so you don't forget something. Your checklists will grow over time with more experience.
2) Spend lots of time on this forum learning things you had no idea about regarding RVing. There is a ton of great tips here, from black tank maintenance to cooking.
EDIT: One more thing I found really helpful was YouTube videos by RVGeeks, Love Your RV and RVProject.
Camping at a park near home the first couple of trips is a great idea. It will help you sort out what you can't live without and what you can do without. Booking a full hookup site a couple of times will allow you to take your time when dumping the tanks and you can ask your neighbors for advice. You can even fill the fresh water tank there to make sure the water pump works properly before you try camping without a water connection.

My mods are not extensive compared to many here:
- Installed Progressive Industries hard wired 30A EMS
- Home made X-Chocks
- Added shelves in outside storage compartment (by previous owner)
- Added Winegard Wingman
- Upgraded water pump to Shurflo 4088
- Replaced OEM shower head with an Oxygenics shower head
- Replaced manual tongue jack with Husky HB4500 electric jack
- Added Maxxair vent covers on all roof vents
- Awning support arms (Wooster Sherlock 6' to 12' painter poles) using brackets by forum member OldCoot.
- Maxxis M8008 load range D tires (replaced 5 yr old original tires that were load range C)
- Removed thin metal stove cover with poor hinges and replaced with extra large cutting board
I'm going to get a Hughes Autoformer in the Spring because I've had a lot of low voltage errors on the EMS in the past couple of years. I'll probably buy some Eternabond tape next year and cover all the sealant on the roof.
