Two Months In

Took the plunge. Sold house I was living in(owned with siblings in Illinois).

Been living at a campground(no sewer) getting acquainted with my camper. Another two months or so until I can quit working and start heading south and exploring other camps.
Learning the quirks of emptying the tanks every two weeks and getting the camper road ready.

Thanks already to this site and members for all the helpful posts and topics. Has helped me a lot.

Glad you decided to join the forum.
Camping without sewer for two months is a challenge, but you're smart to learn about your camper before you start traveling. Your timing is good too because many campgrounds in the north start shutting down in September.
Welcome!

Welcome to the forums. And congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I’m impressed that you are able to go two weeks with your tanks. [emoji3]

The OP's trailer has a black tank capacity of only 30 gallons, not 100 gallons:

Are you using a portable tank like a Barker?

As stated above, 30 gallons. My gages for black and the aft grey read about 2/3 full after two weeks. Front is about 1/3 full. Have learned to wash dishes with minimal water.

No bathrooms in campground, very basic just water, electricity and a dump station with water also. Basically a grass field with just a few trees. I keep my camper on the higher lots and move between them on dump days. That way they can mow where I was.

It is on the edge of the town I lived in so it makes it convenient to work through the summer and early fall. Sister is in town to get all the packages I have had to order for getting set up. Knew it would take some time to figure things out but every other day I am getting something else for the camper.

Make use of the Water Miser system and Navy Showers. Have an Oxygenic shower so that helps to. Thought I would hate the short showers but never took long ones anyway.

I did just put a water flow meter on after this last dump so I can see how much water is used in the two weeks. By rights if gages are somewhat accurate should be about 50 gallons every two weeks. But then I have to add in my coffee and drinking water, probably a gallon a day tops is all.

No. Just hook up the camper and pull it to the dump station, maybe sixty yards to it but I take the long way around the circle. I wanted to learn the setup and tear down routine over the summer. Takes about 2 leisurely hours to do the dump every other Thursday after golf. I think I now know the amount of lean to the non-slide side to have it level when I extend them.

I see some of the folks here have one but I don't think there is much time saved as you would have to still dump each tank. Most folks here do though. You can hear them pulling them behind their trucks. And then they have to mow around their camper to keep it trimmed. Definitely more convenient but I stay on the same two spots right next to each other. Just have to move my outside stuff over a few yards.
