Upgraded from Pop Up to Mini Lite 2506s

We started camping more seriously just over a year ago when we moved from tenting up to a Fleetwood Bayside pop up, which we loved. But after about a year of putting up with the rigmarole of set up and tear down, plus the frequent dampness of sleeping in a canvas-sided pop up, we decided to move up to a travel trailer.

After viewing many different options, we found a 2020 Mini Lite 2506s that had been used once then traded in for a toy hauler. We love the layout - the separate bedroom and the large open kitchen/living area.

We had already reserved a site a year before at Myrtle Beach State Park, a 9-plus-hour drive away. So we picked up our new trailer, drove it home to pack it, and that night started our trip by boondocking at a Walmart a few hours away. I know they say to start out with a short trip nearby to get used to the trailer, but we weren't giving up those reservations so our adventure began with a bang!

Most things went smoothly. But we did end up calling Good Sam when we were about half way to our destination - after a swaying incident, we pulled into a gas station to check everything out. Upon seeing our trailer tires facing in different directions - one pointed in and one pointed out (see photo) - we called. A patient person on the phone told us that Rockwood trailers have special axles and that tire pattern was normal. We drove the rest of the way (and back) without major incident. And had a fabulous time in the beautiful Myrtle Beach State Park.

Happy to be a part of this forum and hoping to contribute.

You skipped a step that we took in our upgrade. We went from pop-up to hybrid before getting a Mini-Lite. Our 2507S has a Murphy bed. Many people don't want to deal with it but we like the extra space it provides.

Welcome!

Welcome from New Jersey, I'm not too convinced about the axles being that far off.

Trailer tire twisting and flexing is normal, especially turning on concrete/pavement.

Thanks for that video clip. That's when we noticed the tires twisting - as we were turning and pulling in to a gas station pump.

I'm not wild about his comment in the video that it causes more wear on the tires over time, but at least that's a heads up to be checking them more closely on a regular basis.
