Used 261BN

Hey everyone! I've been lurking for sometime, now I'm ready to buy and get all the danged advice I can! I'm looking at a 2014 Cruise Lite 261BN. Most likely going to get it next week. I've never owned a tt before, but I've rented a few and loved it. Just wanted to introduce myself!

Welcome to the forums from SoCal! I wasn't able to find a copy of the floor plan for the unit you listed. I recommend going over the trailer checking everything. Are you buying it from a dealer or private seller?

I hope things work out and that you will enjoy it as much as I have my CL.

I am buying from a dealer, here is the link: http://www.campersinn.com/product/us...61bh-448317-29

What specifically should I be looking for?

Joe

I was wondering last night if it was a BH being that BN didn't yield anything.

What should you look for? Search for any signs of water damage. Don't assume that things is in working order - you should test every thing including having water and electric connected. Look down the toilet to see if there are any signs of trouble. It's not uncommon for owners to trade in their RV without dumping the black tank first or to have an black tank issues. How will the storage space work for your family?

Just a heads up that like buying an auto the sale tag is a starting point. Do some research on this unit in your area including newer models to get an idea of a good & fair sale price.

Yeah, couldn't read my own writing, oops! I got quite a bit off of the price listed on the site plus I got them to include a bunch of "extras" (New bedding, 4 packs of tp, black tank chemicals, complete dining set with utensils, thank kind of thing. This was important to me since I've never owned a tt before, I had none of the stuff!). My family and I are pretty excites, we will be picking it up next Saturday (couldn't swing the timing for this weekend, oh well!). My son (9 years old) and I are planning on "camping" in it in my driveway, to see if I'm missing anything. I have a few things I want to add/upgrade and it's driving me crazy that I don't actually have the trailer yet to start ordering stuff and working on it! Anyone have suggestions for some things I should get ofr it or do to it before we head out to camp for real? Thanks!

Driveway camping is a good way to find out what is needed. Make a list of items you know for sure you need for the first trip and start building from there. For each trip I plan a menu which include a section for items needed.

I always keep a little bit of both warm & cold weather clothes in the RV in case the weather isn't as expected.

Some items can be used in more than one way. A small folding step stool can be used as foot rest. A beach towel can double as a table cloth for a small outdoor table or as padding for a foot rest.

Nice looking unit! It looks new. The kids look pretty excited about it which means lots of good family camping memories are ahead.

How did the PDI walk-through go? Are you ready for your first outing?

Walk through was great, answered all of my questions, even gave me his cell number in case I had any more questions over the holiday weekend. They were great, especially since they knew that it's my first tt. Getting ready to take it out, just trying to decide where first. We're "camping" in it tonight as a test run, the kids love it!

First night went great!! Kids are still sleeping in it! Where is a good place to get sheets for it? My bed is a "short queen", then there are bunks in the back, one more narrow than the other. I have not measured them yet, but what size do you think they would be?
