Water filter

Just picked up our new 2608BS Rockwood camper with no PDI or demo given Covid so we are figuring everything out ourselves. Cannot find the water filter even though it came with a replacement one in the starter kit and the handle to turn the container. Anyone know where it might be?

I doubt it is a replacement cartridge,it is your first one to install! In regards to location I guarantee it will be in a contortionist location! Youroo!!

Do you have a service bay or a wet bay? This is were you would access the water valves and waste valves plus connect the fresh water line to your trailer! If so, I would look in that compartment. This is usually on the driver side of the trailer.

Also some of the current trailers are being built without a water filter on the trailer. My 2016 Cedar Creek does not have a factory mounted water filter. These were removed do to customer complaints about leaking water into the trailer.

I don't know where your water filter is on your unit but I have to wonder why COVID affected the PDI/Customer Orientation?

Did you look at and make the decision to purchase the R/V without looking at it in person?
Did you do all the paperwork online and not have contact with the sales staff?
Did you then simply drive up and pick it up at the lot without talking to or seeing anyone at the dealership?

Were these your choices or theirs?

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your purchase of a 2608BS Rockwoo. As 5 Picker mentioned why not PDI. Later RJD

In Ontario, the lockdown forbid this type of activity. I was only able to stay outside while they installed the anti sway hitch on my truck. I did make an appointment with them the day after this lockdown is lifted.

Thanks for clarifying.
I wasn't trying to be rude or pry into anyone's business.

Things are slightly different here in the US but I was just wanting to have knowledge if this was yet just another excuse by Forest River's dealer network to skirt the responsibility of doing a PROPER PDI/Customer Orientation. There are many reports of folks getting nothing, even before COVID.

Oh... and BTW... welcome to the forum!

sounds like one of the doors where FR mounts it with three hinges, two on one side and the third one on the opposite side, ... so you do have to unscrew the one hinge to open, ... I would advise you to mod that situation so that you will have easier and quicker access to an area that at any time could spring a leak, ... there are a number of ways to mod that door to open easier, below is what I did, ....

Welcome aboard Eddie.
1. Use this time when you can’t go anywhere, to investigate EVERY operation of your rig. If possible, try driveway camping several times to pretend you are out camping somewhere. This proves what you need to have.
2. Take pictures to accompany your questions for others to help.
3. Find out now before you get to really use your rig.
4. Not to sound negative, but given that no one knows when this lockdown is lifted, don’t think that you’re the only one that has been told you’ve got an appointment on THAT day. There’s also others that booked for dates before you came along. Just be prepared.
