Welcome from Washington State

My wife and I recently retired and bought a new Forest River Heritage Glen 276RLIS 5th wheel and a 2012 Chevrolet 3500HD Crew Cab diesel to pull it. Last year, we had purchased a 2003 Jayco 32' Class C motorhome, but it was a bear for me to drive. I liked the motorhome, because I could pull my classic cars on my car hauler, but like I say, the motorhome was too hard one me to drive.

We took our new 5th wheel and pickup out for it's maiden voyage, last Friday, about 100 miles to Soap Lake, WA. It was like driving a Cadilac, the 5th wheel pulled really nice.

When got to our designation and started setting up, the right rear tire on the 5th wheel lost a fist size piece of tread, but still held air. Had AAA put the spare on the next day and enjoyed the weekend. We really like the new 5th wheel and have two more trips planned for the next 2 months. Next year, we will be taking a 3 to 6 month trip across the states.

Very happy with the Forest River trailer, but I fail to understand why the dealer is taking a week to replace the defective tire. The service writer says he has to go through hoops to get it replaced. Will see what happens, but so far I am not impressed by this warranty issue.

We'll be back on the road shortly, hope to see many of you during our travels.

JR

Thank you all....

Thank you all for the warm welcome and we hope to meet many of you on the road.

The wife is making the plans, but think we will be over on the Oregon coast, near Cannon Beach, next month, then at Joseph, Oregon - Wallowa Lake around the 5th of June. In Joseph, there is the 27th Annual Oregon Mountain Cruise car show, June 11-12.

Joseph, Oregon also has a lot of bronze sculpturers, that you can tour, in their private homes or the foundries. The car show is great, many beautiful vehicles of all types.

We currently own a 1928 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan (stock) and a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe street rod. We are going to take time off from the car shows and take our time seeing the USA. We are looking forward to it!

Welcome from Camano Island.

The majority of warranty issues like yours, are the dealer not even submitting the paperwork.
They like to blame the manufacturer, since it deflects the customer's frustration.

Many times dealers don't submit parts orders until they get enough to save on shipping costs.

I'll bet if you called FR parts dept, they'll probably tell you that they haven't gotten anything from your dealer.

bikendan (Welcome from Camano Island)

bikendan,

We are supposed to receive a reply from the service writer today. He told my wife that he was exchanging communication with the tire manufacturer and I'm sure he is very busy this week. The other service writer worked only Monday and took the rest of the week off for the birth of his first-born.

I'm not sure when the paperwork was sent in by the dealer, but should of been sent in several weeks before we had the trailer delivered. We bought it 4 weeks prior to taking delivery, because I didn't have a vehicle to pull it. We also had the retractable covers placed over the slide-outs.

If I have any issues, I will just go talk to the owner, I worked for him for several years in the mid-70's, when he first purchased a Ford dealership, went to school with his wife, and talk to him a little when I see them out and about. He's not one to put up with any complaints.

Thank you for your information, bikendan.

Welcome from NJ. I worked at the Hanford Site and lived in the Tri-Cities Area. I loved it out there.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I was born and raised in the Tri-Cities. The wife and I retired from Hanford a couple of years ago. I worked at most of the different sites, enjoyed it a lot. I also worked at the Umatilla Army Depot
and numerous commercial nukes around the country.

We're planning on taking our big trip early next year, may be in NJ during that time. Neither one of us have been there.

Again, thank you for the welcome.
