air connection fitting

I'm hoping someone here can identify the purpose of a air hose quick connect in the front of my RV. It appears to have been installed by the previous owner, but I'm trying to figure out what it's for. Is it an output for inflating things or tools? Is it an input to keep the air suspension inflated while in storage?

Here are some pictures.... any ideas?

You can see the thing in the lower-ish right side of the opening and the second pic is a close up.

Thanks,
brian

That looks like connection for a hose so you can inflate things. There are several different styles of connectors, all looking a lot alike. Might be best to buy a pair, and a hose, and just replace that one with your new matched set. Be sure there is no air on the system when you remove that coupling. You also need to know if that coupling has male or female threads.

thanks. It's been suggested that it may be a hook up for a tow truck to release the air brakes in the event it needed to be towed... Do you think that's reasonable?

YES sir

that is exactly it,
and it doubles as a place to harvest air under pressure for tires and stuff

I agree, you must have a built-in air compressor, that fitting will not work for an a/c unit. That is a nice handy dandy thing to have..

I am assuming you have air brakes. If you do that is definitely the air supply to your Rig. I spent many years hauling Trucks, Buses, Motor Homes and the like on the back of a Heavy Duty Wrecker. If you ever are in need of a Tow make sure you let the Operator know it's there.
