'04 Sand Piper toy hauler spare tire relocation

Has anyone modified their toy hauler spare tire location from under the back to mounting it on the back door? The toy hauler does not have the highest ground clearance and I always worry about cutting the tire sidewall. Contemplating the use of large carriage bolts through the door to attach the tire.

it is almost guaranteed to leak and wreck the door. can you get a mount and put it on the tongue?
