24 volt device hooking to 12 volt system.

Need some help guys. Anyone good with electrical. I have a 24 volt device that I want to hard wire into the 12 volt system on my camper. I know it will not work on 12 volts. It came with a plug in but I want to hard wire it in. Any suggestions as to the easiest way?

You need a 12 to 24v transformer. DC to DC voltage converter may be your best search term. Size it for the current draw.

Cool I will look for one. Internet best bet. Or are there Noel and mirror stores that would have something like that?

Easy-peasy.

You'll need something like *THIS*.

It's a 12v to 24v step-up converter.

You can get a "buck converter" for LEDs here..LDD-L Series Mean Well Step-Down Mode CC LED Drivers

Pick the right current for your led strips.

Thanks for the help guys. The lights came with a 120 volt wall plug it. I just want to hard wire it to the camper. Never have to worry. I am not that good with electrical. Not my area so just the eastiest way to do it. Good with hands on and directions but figuring out best way not my area.

24 volt device hooking to 12 volt system.

A buck converter goes the wrong direction for the OP. He needs a voltage step up 12 volt battery to 24 volt lights (boost); not step down (buck) for his lights.

Specs say each strip is 24 volt 1 amp.

If it came with a 'wall wart' 120v adapter and it's output is 24v DC, you might try hooking the LED strip up to 12v and see what happens. You may be surprised to find they work just fine.

A lot of LED lighting has an input voltage range of 12-to 24v.

I will try that first before I buy something else.

It MAY work but the lights will be alot dimmer.

Again thank you for the quick response by all. As I said not my area. Now if anyone needs advice about picking up something with a crane. Let me know. That is my main area.

You can't hurt them with 12V, but they will most likely be dim. You need something like this:

Boost Converter

This one is a better choice if it will be outside:

Kind of "brute force" but simple and cheap - get a cheap (modified sine wave) inverter and plug your "wall wart" into it:

I have access to a 12 volt light in my baggage compartment that is why I wanted to go 12 volt to 24 volt.

Sorry, bad search, didn't read the fine print. Here is a 3A step up. https://www.amazon.com/SUNKEE-LM2577.../dp/B008HMETBE

Toss the lights and get 12v ones. Probably cheaper than the transformer.
