26DBH Modifications

We picked up a 26 DBH and I have done a few things. Probably not much as I am a newbie, but it will make my experience better.

First off I separated the area under the bed and the front storage compartment. I also made a small access door to get to the hot water tank bypass.

I also found a ladder at Camping World that is 6' tall and collapses to 3 1/2" by 3 1/2". I made some hangers to hold it up and out of the way. I also made a latch to help to position the ladder in the tight space.

Nice mods! I like the compartment partition. Kind of a pain when stuff slides too far forward to reach from the bedroom.

Some additional organizing

I also put a 1/2" piece of plywood on the side of one of the front storage compartment. (opposite the ladder in the previous picture) I may need to swap out some of the hooks if they are not holding, it's just what I had in the garage.

To the left of the picture out of the frame, there are 3 eye lag screws one with the hitch padlock, one with the hitch pin and one extra.

The clips for the WD hitch are obviously only there when stopped.

That's great! My WDH parts are just laying down in front of the passenger side cargo door. I would like to do something similar to this.

How much and what type of materials did you use? Thanks

The inner part under the bed was 1/4" plywood. I added a 2x2 support to secure the plywood and give the hinges some bite. Two small hinges and a barrel bolt lock for the door.

The storage compartment used 1/2" ply and cut down to fit and I left it 48' long.

Hooks were small eye screws that I cut a little off to make a hook.

About $25 worth of materials at Home Depot.

Insect Screens

Today I decided on how I was going to add a screen to the refrigerator vent opening.

I took some 1x4 I had laying around from the shed I built last summer and ripped some pieces to make a frame. Basically 3/4 x 1" or so and another piece that was about 3/4 x 3/4" and nailed them together then mitered the corners at 45 degrees.

I attached them inside the opening for the vent with enough room to close the original vent shield. Caulked them and then painted the caulk black.

I measured the inside and bought some screen from Home Depot and the corners and stuff to hold the screen (rubber string) and make a screen to fit.

I ended up just screwing the screen in - I figured it would hold better and if I ever need to get in there its just 6 screws.
