A pantry for my roo

I hate wasted space and I wanted more food storage space in my Roo. What I found was that the engineers who put this thing together made the entire wall nearly 4 inches thick to conceal a vent pipe. So after confirming that nothing else was in the wall I cut the whole and installed this pantry. Total depth of shelves is about 5 inches, but only sticks out of the wall about an inch and a half. See pics.

Very nice, ingenuity at it's best! Your assumption that engineers had anything to do with the design of the trailer might be a bit off though!

Great mod!
How did you determine what was in the wall?

Exploring is good. I removed a screwed-on panel under the lavatory sink in our Cherokee 38P and found a finished space, empty except for the S-trap and 1-4" drain pipe from the lavatory sink. And the trap is high and the pipe is all the way to the back. This spot is just begging for a cabinet door. I might add one sometime, but we really have way more storage space than we need.

I assumed you purchased those doors. Did you make them?

No I didn't make the doors. I wanted them to more or less match the current ones so I bought them raw and finished them.

cd4620 - I did a couple of things to explore the wall.
Sometimes you can remove an outlet and look inside.
Drill a small hole put in a clothes hanger and move it around.
Get on a ladder and see where the vents are in relation to the sky lights.
Remove any access panel in the bathroom and look for pipes and wires in the area you might want to open.
Another thing to remember is that not all interior walls will be the same. Two of my bathroom walls were nearly 4 inches thick but the third was only 1 1/2 inches thick.

Very innovative! I do have a question... does the food that you store tend to warm up during the summer months due to lack of insulation?
