Adding a modifiedReese Towpower hitch receiver to a Flagstaff ePro14fk

We want to use a 4 foot wide aluminum cargo carrier to the rear of our ePro14fk. We’re not ever intending to use this receiver to mount a hitch ball or tow ANYTHING. We’re only using it to carry lightweight bulk cargo, like a 60 lb generator.

The receiver is intentionally offset to allow space for the rear ladder. Like everything we do to this trailer, this project is requiring a great deal of ‘creativity’.

Yes, it was a crazy idea

We're done with the installation and we did not need to weld anything, so far. Geri is reinstalling the rear leveling jacks and the black holding tank drain hose carrier.

The kit we bought was a multi-fit Reese hitch receiver system, that needed modification, including adding a few parts and hardware that were not in the kit. It still required actually drilling and cutting of several heavy steel parts, shattering two cobalt steel drill bits and dulling another. It's a project that sane people, who don't have a very good shop, and that don't have a fabrication welder in the family might attempt. No welding so far, and the word at dinner was that we don't need any welding. We'll see.

A couple of comments from someone who is getting ready to install my second rear rack, one for each of the campers that I owned. Because you cargo rack has only one attachment point it will tend to “wobble and bounce”, I’d advise getting one of those hitch receiver clamps to tighten the connection at the receiver. The second thing is people that I know have a cargo rack like you show in the picture and their generator wants to fall through the openings in the “floor” of your rack. Please post up more pictures and of the finished installation. Jay
