Are Dometic 310 and 320 Toilets Quiet?
I have read a lot of threads on toilets in this forum but the “noisiess” of the toilets is not addressed.
I am looking to upgrade the stock toilet in my 2019 Rockwood 2512S with a 310 or 320. The model 300 unit currently in the unit is very squeaky and groany when sitting on it—and I’m talking about the toilet making the noise, not my old bones.
For those that have the 310 or 320, are they quiet? I’m hoping that the porcelain bowl quiets them down but I see that both models have the polypropylene bases. I am wondering if that base makes things squeak like the otriginal...
I’m also wondering if the cost of the 320 is a worthwhile upgrade... I did some measurements and it looks like the 320 will fit in my space. Any input is welcome.

A 320, is an elongated bowl. Not round like a 300, but longer front to back.
Because of that, do you have the room at the back of your toilet today to consider a 320? Some original toilets are mounted very close to the wall behind them, and you couldn’t install a 320.

I own a 320 and it is light years beyond the 300 porcelain base add a slow close lid, you will be happy no more squeaks or plastic noises with that said, check dometic site for the dimensions make sure you have enough room to install the 320 (or a 310)

320 with added slow close lid. Rock solid, although it seems that the flush spray at the front of the bowl is a bit weak. Otherwise, not problem other than replacing the valve one time (10 minutes and $15). Gets used a ton, like five months out of the year.

I went from 300 to 310 (the 320 wouldn't fit my layout) and yes...they are MUCH quieter

We went from the 300 to the 310 and no more creaking!
We are very happy with the mod.

I will say this, my 310 is great but, when the foot flush is complete, there is a significant thump when the ball closes and yes, you can hear it outside the RV. Never looked into why. Not sure if it is mine or if they all go thump into the night. Otherwise, quite.

My 310 doesn't make this noise. A couple thoughts:
Are you releasing the foot flush lever fast?
Does it appear that the "ball" is sticking as you release the foot pedal?
On mine I use this periodically to both clean the bowl and lube the seal.
Leaves behind a waxy like coating that helps keep the bowl free of sticking "residue" as well as keeping the seal from becoming sticky.
Seems to do both jobs well.

Ball not sticking, toilet bowl and throat clean. After looking, it is probably the water valve. Always done it for 8 years now. I will try your cleaner. Always looking for better.

If this is happening while you are on City Water it could well be just "water hammer". The spring that closes the valve snaps shut and the water still wants to flow, creating the hammer noise.
If there is room, you might want to install something like this in the line near the toilet.
The one pictured is a 3/8" size but some searching might find a 1/2" size which I believe is the size of the water line to the toilet.
I had a similar 'thumping' sound as my new "Energy Efficient' washing machine used water. I installed a pair of these on the hot and cold inlets and the noise was gone.
Usually not expensive as the one pictured was only ~$15 on Amazon.

DeadSalmon - are you the original owner of that Rockwood? There is a recall on the 300s less than 3 years old where liquid gets trapped between the halves of that bowl. It happened to me. Dometic sent me a 310 free of charge. Absolutely worth it to upgrade even if you have to buy.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I’m the original owner. Did some digging on the recall and it looks like I need to call with my serial number. Will do that tomorrow.

Dometic upgraded my 300 to a 320 for $100
I was able to speak with Dometic today concerning the recall. (Oh, and it isn’t a recall the rep said. Recalls are for safety issues and there are no safety issues with the toilets. She said the toilet “has an issue” and they are replacing them, but it is not a recall.)
So, once we made it through that we were on to the replacement. As I was on hold I received an email response to an earlier inquiry which offered me the following:
We have a few options which I will list below for you to pick from
1.) You can go through a dealer and have them replace it with a new 300 and we will cover the labor
2.) We can ship a 300 toilet to you for no charge and you can install it
3.) If you have the required space of 10" from wall to center of mounting bolt you can upgrade to a 310 with a plastic seat $75.00 or Slow close lid 310 $100.00, upgrade does not cover labor for install
4.) If you have 11" of space from wall to center of mounting bolt you can upgrade to the 320 Residential unit for $200.00 When I spoke to the rep I commented that the price for the 320 upgrade seemed pricey (I already had a 320 on order from Gander Outdoor for only $235). She did some digging and offered me the 320 for $100. Done Deal.
It will be here in about a week and I will return the one from Gander.
Thanks again for the tip, @bradw661. Saved me $135!
