Backup camera for TV and TT
It's almost done. Only have to install the camera on the back of the TT and plug it in. The TV is all wired. The rear view mirror has a built-in 7" color LCD. When off, it's a standard mirror. When on, I can easily see the hitch, or with a push of the remote, I'll be able to see behind the trailer.
The monitor with a camera was $118 on Ebay. The second backup camera was about $40. Inexpensive, very useful.

Great project. I too am looking at doing the same, but am not quit sure what to buy.
Please give us a report on how well it work following you next few outings.

I bought another camera earlier, also on Ebay, for about $40. This was a color, flush mount, reverse image camera. A regular camera would get the left/right reversed when pointing backwards. After some head scratching, and not wanting to drill any holes in my new trailer, I think I've found the perfect spot. I could use another license plate camera, but my plate isn't centered on the trailer. I've decided to drill a hole in the hard plastic spare tire cover. It's centered, the camera will be almost hidden. The wiring can snake along the frame, hidden.
This is an easy DIY project. More pics and details to follow...

You will love them cameras. I have them also on back of truck and trailer, but the one on the trailer is wireless, and I have a 10" black and white screen. It is great for keeping an eye on the Jeep when we are towing double.

Got the TT camera installed today. The system works great! I can easily switch between the hitch cam and the tt cam by pushing a button on the remote.

Question about miror
I have a 2007 Avalanche - The mirror has a temp guage and compass built in. Does the new mirror completely cover the old. In other words, will I lose the compass and temp readout. I do need a backup system.
