Dometic toilets are crappy

After all the problems I had trying to find the stench of the 300 why would I buy another dometic? I was desperate and it looked nice...dont stink yet n it works good if u prefill otherwise bad pressure and jet design....i think it has too many ports to get good flow...and never gets a jet around the front to flush the girls tp...

So I'm trying to mod this toilet after modding my wall to even fit this junk...it needs an auto fill mode, a tiny tank inline after valve to gravity fill a little or a delayed valve...or an accumulator right at the toilet? Anybody have and ideas?

Manually prefilling is the norm when dealing with RV and Marine heads, so you may have to retrain individuals in proper operation.

The way the valve is installed into the foot pedal I don't know if there's a way to add an accumulator tank after the valve. You'd have to tear the toilet apart to see if there's any way to modify it.

RV toilets are designed to use minimal water as often the only water available is what's in the tank. For my purposes the new 320 works just fine. I can add water to the bowl by just pressing the pedal lightly.

The "jets" do a fantastic job of cleaning the bowl when flushing without wasting a gallon of water.

I wouldn't expect the same operation from an RV toilet as I would of a regular flush toilet that's hooked to an endless supply of water.

If there is some residue left in the bowl after flushing that bothers you, consider installing the auxiliary sprayer made for these toilets.

Note: Try spraying some WD-40 on the porcelain of the bowl when freshly cleaned. Some swear that that everything in the bowl disappears in a flash, leaving nothing behind.

Should have got a 310 instead of the 320. It's not as elongated/has turbo flush that covers all the bowl (front to back)/flush lever half way down adds water to bowl (320 should do the same) without flushing. Anyway, my preference and of course everyone has their own.

First post I've seen that was negative after replacing the 300, which really was a bad design.
If there is not as much water pressure as there should be, perhaps there is debris in the lines/valve.
The rest of it sounds more like the OP didn't do enough homework before the project.

Mike- marine toilets especially macerator type don't like toilet paper at all. You don't have one of those but I'm just saying people can toss the TP instead of dropping it.

Train your girls to toss the TP in the waste basket.
That solves one of your problems.

Through the years we've had most all the major brands.

We like our Dometic 310 about as good or better than anything we've had.

Fills the bowl slightly after flushing, swirling action cleans the bowl well and adding water prior to flushing is easy.

To each their own I suppose... but I simply can't imagine not flushing the paper and instead throwing it into a wastebasket... not in our R/V... nope... never.

Your RV toilet won't ever work like an American Standard or Kohler. That's life.

Pre-fill as you should. Assuming no additional liquid waste, a little practice with "aim" should get the solids into the water. If not, oh well.
As for the tissue, well, potty goers need to stand up a bit and aim for the water. You're camping.

And the failsafe is the Clorox toilet wand disposable cleaning thingies. Whatever the waste, these things are designed to do the job. Flush, add a very small amount of fresh water, swab "whatever" down to the center of the flush valve. Quick flush. Now use the clean water to "rinse" the scrubbing thingie and clean your bowl spic and span. Leaves a nice "blue" in the bowl, too...just like home.

But what are the dog poop baggies for? Well, to dispose of the toilet wand cleaning thingie of course. By now it's nasty, so just open the baggie, use the knob on the wand to release the filthy thingie, and put the wand away. Tie the dog poop baggie in a knot...just as you would if you used it for its intended purpose. Throw it in the trash. Take out the trash now and again.

And remember. You're camping. If boondocking, water is precious. If not boondocking but no sewer hookup, water is precious. And if you have the luxury of a sewer hookup, well, you still need to go drain the black tank every so often, because everybody knows you don't leave the dump open. Instead, you substantially fill the black tank and then you dump now and again. Encourage your fellow campers to recognize that YOU'RE the one stuck with any or all of these nasty duties, and to remember that they are CAMPING!!

One must adjust to an RV toilet...the RV toilet doesn't adjust to emulate an American Standard hooked to city water and a sewer main.

P.S. I suspect your problem is the water pump. My Dometic will splash water out of the bowl when attached to city water, and it occasionally splashes when on the pump. I don't like splash from inside my toilet onto my legs! If you add an accumulator, it WON'T increase the pressure. It will just reduce the number of times the pump has to cycle for any given water draw. But the accumulator will only pressurize to the pressure the pump (or city water through a pressure reducer) can supply. If you don't have adequate water pressure, replace the pump with a better performing pump.

If you don't have adequate pressure when connected to city water, get a new pressure reducing adapter, because the old one is probably shot. In some cases, city water in an RV park may not even meet the max pressure your camper can handle, but usually a new pressure reducing adapter will bring things up to snuff, and it won't significantly reduce pressure in low-pressure city water conditions.

So, to repeat: Steps of using an RV toilet for solid waste.
~ pre fill to a point where no body parts will make contact with the water and waste;
~ aim for the water in the bowl...both with waste and with TP;
~ flush;
~ clean as needed.

Wife tried that. Even that small amount of urine left on the tp will stink in about a day
Dump every day may not be a problem.

Of course you empty every day. Even can empty morning and evening. We nearly always take a walk about after breakfast and after supper. Toss the used (grocery store-WalMart) bag in the dumpster during your walk.
Remember it's camping. This is not a fancy resort with water wasting toilets. A small adjustment can keep everyone happy.

A final note to those folks who go "Ewwwwww gross" when I mention tossing the TP in a wastebasket- I have changed enough "gag me with a spoon" diapers in my lifetime that simply tossing the TP in a bag instead of dropping down the john is not a problem.

Your lucky if your only talking about baby diapers, they have nothing over adult diapers. I've had the experience of "gag me to the moon" without needing the spoon.

I replaced my 300 with the 320 and have the same issue you are. Water flow to the front of the 320 is kind of bad. I stared a thread asking if others had similar issues but no real responsee. I have the sprayer model and while it does kind of solve the problem it still requires action from the DW and getting her to change is difficult.

I am not sure how you would resove without adding a toilet tank. An accumulator tank I dont think would work. I just fill a bit more when I am done. It solves the problem half the time.

You may be able to add the sprayer via replacement parts. It only works with the peddle down anyway or you could add one by adding a kitchen sprayer with a T before the toilet.

Thanks for the advise...I like the wd 40 idea the most...I'll try it....I prob should of went the 310 route...would of saved cutting a glory hole in the wall...we have a lot of quests so training and rv toilet manners are a long shot...I guess I should be happy I'm not taking the unit off to empty the urine anymore...and shut my trap...just overall disappointment with the torture of this brand...

Ps when I seen the toilet spray feature for the 320 I laughed like who wants to wash the crap down...didnt realize its needed for simple flushing shouldn't been a dead giveaway.
