Door Across Loft Opening

Hello! We just bought a 2020 Forest River Cherokee Destination Trailer 39SR - here's my issue/challenge - has anyone ever put a door or something solid across the opening at the top of the stairs to the loft area? My 2.5 year old will be sleeping up there and I'd like to have SOMETHING to prevent him from coming down the stairs every 30 seconds. I had originally thought a cabinet door on sliders almost like a barn door but I'm not sure if that will work. Wondering if anyone else has figured this out?

Here’s a picture of what I’m trying to figure out - if I took the handle off, I could mount something to that cabinet. The question is just what?
