I've got the table and chairs instead of a dinette.
Two things I don't like about it:
1. Loss of a sleeping space.
2. Chair seat to table bottom is short. My legs hit table when sitting down.
I may have to lop off the chair legs a little!
wife and i are toying with removing the aft dineete bench and put in two chairs, then gut the fold out couch and make a small storage area under it and then move the couch to the rear of the living room and put my recliners across from the tv instead of at an angle

Does your table and chairs have any storage at all? I have seen table and chair cushions that flip up and provide a little storage underneath. Not muth but you could store cards and books in there.
The wife and I "test fit" some Rockwood ultra light 5ers.
In the dinette booth, our knees touched. We will order the table and chairs. Kids are grown so they won't be along much. Visitors will either get the fold out couch or the floor, first come first served!

I have the table and chairs also, and agree that they are too close.
I was thinking of putting the table up on blocks to give a little lift.

Ours do have tilt up seats to put small stuff in.

I still prefer the traditional dinette, particularly like ours with the big drawers under each bench. We never have a need to make it over into a bed so a fancy table-dropping thingie wouldn't be a big selling point for us. Pretty cool though.
