dual battery box install

I've been looking for a while for a nice battery box that will house 2 group 27 batteries to upgrade my single battery to dual battery setup for more capacity. I was having a hard time finding anything short of the $150 or more metal boxes made for racing. I found a nice plastic one for about $70 and thought I would share if anyone else is looking. It's a model 3H made by Dyno. I bought it from Fisheries - Product Detail=
I bought the new cable from Custom Made Cables : Gregs Marine Wire Supply, Welcome Aboard!
who does custom length and lugs of your choice at a very resonable price and ships quick. The 2 group 27 batteries I put in are wired in parallel and fit in the box perfectly. The box was a little taller than I needed so I cut it down in height a bit which got rid of the larger cable routing cutouts. I drilled smaller holes and used rubber grommets for cable chafe protection for a nicer fit. For the vent hose I cut the hose mounting tubes off the old box and epoxied them onto the new one. Here's a link to pics of the old box and new installed box. dual battery box pictures by 62yunz - Photobucket

I used two plastic dish wash tubs.
One on top one on the bottom.

Use a hole saw to make a drain/vent to line up with the existing one in the 5th wheel and one in the top to take 1/2 of a plastic "barb" type union to connect to the existing vent hose.

Thank you. One day I will replace the red battery cable with the splicing tape on the end. I used a propane torch to try and solder the lug on instead of crimping it like I did with the others. All I succeeded in doing was melting the insulation and make the wire even LESS flexible than it already is.

Just did a dual 27 conversion on our 8280ws and ended up using a Rubbermaid Actionpacker 8gal... it perfectly fits and i mean perfectly two series 27 Interstate batteries. Just drilled the top and bottem for the vents and its solid.

I just did a mod to install 2 T-105 batteries on my TT.
Got a great battery box from Green Mountain Batteries on eBay.
Dual 6 Volt GC2 Size Battery Box for Boat Marine RV Renewable Energy Aerial Lift | eBay

Very happy with the box!

Bent up a length of angle iron to fit the base, welded all the corners & ends, then welded it to the tongue of the trailer where the original 12V battery sat.

Still working on the dual jboxes on either side for fusing & shunt...

Just installed my 4 T-105's. I already had the box, but you can pick up similar military type boxes at Wally World!

Checked your wiring and it exactly right!
NICE job all around.

GREAT use of a foot locker!
I use 2 restaurant table "busing" tubs one over the other for my two 12 volt batteries.
